My first rheumatology appointment
I have read a few posts about appointments so I knew a little of what to expect at my appointment this morning. The consultant was very nice, and understanding. However, she asked what I thought the diagnosis of fibromyalgia would do for me, which threw me a bit, as I hadn’t realised it was an official

Struggling
Evening all.... I had an accident around 8 years ago now and initially had more problems with my lower back than my legs. Within around 6 months my back was starting to recover but very slowly and I was sent to have an epidural steroid injection. Very soon after this I was made aware this injection

Hi all, I’ll try to keep this as short as possible!... I’ve tried many medications over the 25 years since my RA/D was diagnosed & returned to Leflunamide about 4 years ago, when I couldn’t get along with infusions or self injections. I wasn’t seeing any improvement with them. I’ve had the occasional

Treating Shoulder Pain, a gift of PMR
I never had shoulder pain until PMR. My PMR started in my right shoulder but THAT pain and stiffness went away very quickly. Then when I went back to my pre PMR exercises I realized that something was different in my shoulder. (well that was true for most of my body, felt like a loosely knit skeleton

First Appointment
Had my first appointment yesterday at Mile End in London. I d been apprehensive and the crowded waiting room looked daunting. Sods law, i felt not too bad yesterday probably the bottle of red wine I'd had the night before helped. But it was all really efficient. I got called in by the Rheumatologist

Benapali Side Effects
Hi. I started Benapali injections last week, following two years on methotrexate, Humira and Steroid injections which no longer helped sadly (got to the stage where my body could cope with the side effects). An hour after injection of Benapali I have had waves of constant nausea and a headache that

Flare help please!
Can anyone help me please??? Just a short background...I’m 31 and have had chronic pain, headaches and migraines since 15. I got the diagnosis of fibro at 19 and psoriatic arthritis at 30, but I’m almost positive the arthritis being undetected is what caused a large portion of my pain over the years

Dilemma?
I've been taking etanercept (enbrel/benepali/enbrel) for about 15 years as well as mtx. Since the change to benepali last year I've struggled to get back in control of my RA despite going back on enbrel in March. I've only managed through a raft of steroid injections. I don't think the Enbrel is as effective

SI Joint Pain/Buttocks Pain
Hi all. I had an SI steroid injection about 2.5 months ago and it helped a GREAT deal. It's already worn off though!!! Does anyone else experience deep SI Joint pain/buttocks pain that then goes into the hip and down the leg? Any recommendations? How often have you had injections if that's how you have

Follow up from Dr Hughes appointment
Well I must say I had a very successful appointment yesterday with Rod Hughes. A long way to travel from Edinburgh but well worth it. Summarised my symptoms to date and he explained in comprehensible language where he thinks I am at and suggested a plan for me to hopefully move forward. He noted my regularly

Bursitis, anyone?
Hi to all. Wondering if anyone here has experienced bursitis, I seem to have it on both hips/top of thigh. Is it connected with rheumatoid, or just something extra I've got? GP gave me a steroid injection on one side, but it didn't really help. Opinions seem to be diffeent as to whether exercising

Preparing for Dr Hughes appointment - help!
I am seeing Dr Hughes on Monday and am trying to prepare as much as possible. Just want to check there’s nothing in particular I should ask about. To summarise I was diagnosed and commenced the steroid path March 2016. Aged 56. Have struggled along a rather rocky road since and the lowest I have achieved

Update from first rheumy appointment
I first posted to this group a couple of months ago when my GP referred me to my local rheumatology department. I has had a sudden on set of the usual type symptoms .... joint pain, fatigue, photosensitivity, hair-loss and on/off malar type rash. These were initially put down to viral arthritis due

Helter Skelter of drugs
I saw the rheumatologist last week and after 5 months of Benepali she says it's not working and stop taking it immediately. For about 10 weeks Benepali was really good and I felt a lot better but for the last 2 months have increasingly been going back to as bad as it's ever been. She reckons my body

Midfoot arthritis
Some of you may remember that I have been experimenting severe pain in my feet which has got worse over the last few years. I've just had some more ultrasounds done and the report is not good. I have significant changes in both feet in the tasal and metatarsal joints. I saw my Rheumatologist yesterday
