Journey to diagnosis
Hi everyone, hope you’re ok. I’m new here and have been under rheumatology for a year now. I’ve got multiple health conditions and understand that it takes a while to get diagnosed due to the crossover in symptoms. My ANA keeps switching between positive and negative, but the nurse said that happens

Waters breaking at 30 weeks (PPROM) - twins
Never out of the woods with this "journey"! Ugh, can't sit back and relax for one moment and think it's all safe. On Wednesday my waters broke. Quite a bit earlier than expected! Called the maternity assessment centre who checked me over and confirmed my waters had broke and my cervix was open 1cm, and

Just had steroid injection today , it’s to help calm down this year long flare , recommended /insisted by rheumatology . I have had steroid injections before , today’s steroid goes by the name of kenolog , not sure if I’ve spelt it right . Nurse says I should start to get some relief by Sunday . 🙏 I

Is this a flare?
Sorry this is so late, I just wondered if any of you might be around to give me a word or two of your wisdom at short notice... GCA since last August, at which time I had a 6th nerve palsy and double vision, but luckily I kept the sight. 7 months later, Prednisolone down from 60 mg to 12.5 as advised

Update to consultant appointment & triple therapy
Just to let you all know especially Brychni how the appointment went this morning with the consultant. Whilst last week when he rang me to say stop the MTX as it was making me feel so sick for 5 - 6 days and the pain was getting worse, today he said oh, I still want you to take it, I'd managed to

Two weeks on Tocilizumab and all is well...
Either the Kenalog steroid injection is still working after 6 weeks (never experienced this much relief before), or the Tocilizumab kicked in straight away, or possibly a bit of both. My joints are ok, no morning stiffness, even my eyes are a tiny bit better, still struggling with fatigue a bit, but

Even more confused? MRI is clear...
Hello everyone again, I hope you’re all doing well! Just having another rant because I’ve received another letter and, again, have not been given an opportunity to ask questions! The letter says the MRI “shows no evidence of meniscal tears or ligament problems. Interestingly, it showed no active inflammation

Pregnancy and RA.... Ouch
Hi all, Haven't posted here in quite a while, hope everyone is as well and as comfortable as is possible. I realised I had an issue with my joints around 2016/2017, but was largely dismissed by my GPS as thing got increasingly worse. I fell pregnant with my second child during this time and was advised

Help!
Hi all, a wee bit of history, I’ve had RA for almost 5 years. I had a knee replacement a year ago and everything was going well until recently. I’ve been getting a lot of pain in my neck, wrists and upper arms. It’s much worse at night and is interrupting my sleep. I saw a dr last week and had a steroid

Trying to banish the gremlins post pain
I haven't gone for a real run in nearly 2 months. And haven't run at all in 6 weeks. I felt as though I was dragging a painful leaden leg around with me. After learning (no surprise) that I have arthritis in both knees, and getting steroid injections in both, I am, 5 days later, pain free. My quads

Arthritis after bug bite
Hello. My partner got bitten on her ankle 2 years ago by an insect of some sort at a church garden party. Her leg swelled up a few days later and antibiotics cured the swelling. Since that time she has had worsening arthritis. She can hardly walk sometimes. She was tested for Lyme disease shortly after

Has anyone tried non steroid injections for knees?
I have moderate to severe arthritis in both knees also left foot and ankle and in both shoulders. I’m struggling dreadfully with my knees in so much pain. Can anyone please tell me if they have had a genicular injection and did it help?? No consultant will sadly do surgery on me due to heart and lung

Just one thing after another...
I fell down a couple of stairs, badly sprained and bruised my left ankle and twisted and bruised the right one. Heaps of pain, thankfully my son came to my rescue with his 1st aider skills, brought ice packs, compression wraps and RICE instructions were clearly given. Later he brought the family along

How can I get back to regular sleep?
When my rheumy told me on our telephone appointment, that he wouldn't be able to examine my painful knees and legs until six months time (due to NHS rules), I decided to pay for a private appointment. It was then discovered that I have arthritis in both knees and would need to continue with Leflunomide

Elbows anyone?
Mine are particularly bad having overtaken my upper back and neck. Lying in bed in the early hours my right elbow ache turned into a searing pain so bad it almost made me cry. It went after a while but for about 2 weeks now all the joints in my arms are achy and weak and so stiff it is affecting my
