Good afternoon all , i have waited 6 months to see an Orthopeadic Consultant after complaining to my doctor about hip pain when walking and sitting and unable to lay on either hip in bed , the pain was unbearable , couldn`t even get upstairs on occasion .
This has gone on for several years but with having Fibromyalgia i thought it was just another symptom that i would have to learn to live with , but was proved wrong .
My diagnosis was Bursitis which i had not heard of and i was in shock as i thought i would be fobbed off with Fibro .
I was given a steroid injection and could actually get out of bed on my own this morning , i have to go back in 6 weeks for another injection on the other side ,i have yet to research this condition but was so thankful for a diagnosis that can be treated ,
Hope this helps that sometimes there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Take Care everyone

Hi benidorm21 thats great that you've had a diagnosis and a treatment that helps. Im glad I came across your post as I have had excruciating hip pain for a number of years which I've put down to running and now very recently the doctors have said its fibro. Its a constant pain none of which is relieved by sitting lying or moving. Did an xray or bloods lead to your diagnosis? Thank you for posting. Hope the second injection works as well.
Same symptoms but as I now I I’ve in a bungalow, thankfully no stairs to climb.my local rheumatologist has just fobbed it off for few years and just says it’s part of my rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia.when I used to go to Guys hospital in London a consultant there said it was bursitis but my local man disagreed so am still struggling.hope yours manages to stay pain free now
Thank you Fra22-57 .Obviously an injection is not a cure , so lot`s of questions to ask , but he did say my symptoms were typical so i will wait and see , Take Care
Great thank you benidorm. Maybe ill push for a xray as it really is a dreadful pain which is impossible to relieve. Thank you for post. All the best with future treatment and getting some relief.
Thank you Pbyllis , i wandered if it goes away eventually but obviously not if you have been having treatment for a few years , i have thought it was Fibro , thank goodness i saw a consultant that recognised something else , take care
