Slow healing.
My wound clinic girl 's say it is my age and because I am on steriods .I will try to keep dropping steadily Will it be better to have painkillers and drop rather than stay on
steroids
rest of my life . The rheumatologist thought I would probably be on 5mg rest of my life.

Thank you
I was immediately admitted to hospital and given IV
steroids
to try to bring my inflammatory markers down (they started at 132).

Steroids and Beta Blockers
I am wondering if this in any way affects the situation with being down to a low dose of
steroids
and in no mans land regarding adrenal insufficiency. Maybe I am daft but I am thinking that blocking stress hormones at this time isn’t such a good idea??

Periorbital necrotizing sweet syndrome
The main form of treatment for NSS is intravenous (IV)
steroids
, whereas NF is treated with IV antibiotics and wound debridement – surgical removal of the infected tissue.

Appointment Update
I do not want my right eye to become dependent on
steroids
but appreciate that it is required currently. Unfortunately, a blood vessel was nicked during the injection so my eye is very red. Hopefully this will clear in a few days but no improvement so far.

GCA Concerns, Cold and Eyes
Still having the double vision which they are attributing to the
steroids
, not the GCA. Started at 60 mg. when diagnosed in October, after reducing I am now down to 25 mg. Do you think the eye aching could just be triggered by congestion or should I be worried?

Not many embryos - should I undergo reproductive immunology testing?
I read so much about how women were put on
steroids
and many other meds and were finally able to have their babies after intervention. Neither my GP nor my clinic are fussed about the above but I know the NHS is behind on many of these investigations.

Allergy to heparin
The nurse herself got a shock , however the nurses were absolutely brilliant and acted really quickly giving me
steroids
and antihistamines. The reaction passed after about ten minutes. The nurses said they had never seen a reaction to heparin before.

Asthma and mental health effects.
I think I am reacting to the
steroids
( to be discussed with the nurse) and wonder if a steroid free medication might be a possible alternative . I am at my wits end .

Octasa / Mesalazine - Should I be seeing more of a change?
I had
steroids
for 3 months which generally helped (though my calprotectin was higher after the course) and I started Octasa 800mg (6 a day) about 2 months ago.

Never ending circle
At this point he gave me
steroids
which, within days, started to clear things up. Fast forward two weeks - I went to meet my new consultant at the Sjogrens clinic who told me he didn't believe it actually was Sjogrens, as I didn't meet the full criteria.

Swollen lymph nodes in neck
Followed my asthma plan, had oral
steroids
and ABs and was ill for 2 weeks. Completely recovered now, peak flow back to normal then woke up with swollen glands (left side only) on Sunday. Apart from a stiff neck and nodes that are tender, I have no other symptoms at all, not even a sore throat.

Light on the horizon?
This opens up another pathway (for some patients) for a treatment pathway that's safer than
steroids
, therefore minimising the risk of some of those nasty side effects that frequently seem to pose so many additional health issues.
