Steroids

My friend is on 65mg of pred. steroids. I read that he needs a low salt and low fat diet. Also he needs to eat foods with potassium and he should take Vitamin D. Should he speak to his GP even though the steroids are being managed by his neurologist?

Then 10 course of oral steroids and antihistamines which again worked but is now back again 3 weeks after last dose of steroids (10) days course. And they now want me to start another 10 Day course.

Steroids problems

Last Friday I spoke to our respiratory nurse and explained I'd been fighting for breath and had used my SOS antibiotics. She told me to take the SOS Prednisilone as well. I did so but immediately my diabetic bloods shot up to 10.5 and have remained at that level since (for years, they've been between

Weaning steroids

I don’t have PMRGC but I am experimenting with steroids for adrenal fatigue/insufficiency and just wanted to ask a question - I have been taking 25mg of steroids for 6 days: waking 10mg, noon 7.5mg, PM 5mg, bedtime 2.5mg I am nervous about developing adrenal shut down entirely and read that if I

Is it possible at all to lose any weight while on steroids I’m currently tapering from 50 mg I’m now at 6 mg ! My skin is an absolute mess patchy rashes all over my body which is itchy. I’m sticking with this as I’ve been up and down the doses I’m now focusing on reducing but I’m suffering !

Stronger than steroids

I have had nasty asthma attacks for four days now, as the weather has got cold again. The asthma nurse says that she will ask the consultants permission to move me on to something stronger than fostair 200, to avoid having to give more pred. Any ideas as to which inhaler she could be referring to

Coming off Steroids

Since being told I have no active inflammation, I thought I would try and come off the steroids. I'm only on a couple of Budesonide as a maintenance treatment. Anyway things were going OK ish, till my last day of taking 1 tablet.

pmr without steroids

I’ve just been diagnosed with pms and doctor wants me on steroids, but I’ve asked for a month using natural methods ( turmeric, d3, omega 3, healing, and homeopathy) has anyone out there managed this condition without steroids?

Decrease in Steroids

Hi there, and thanks for allowing me to join in. I'm a p.m.r. sufferer for the last 15 months with the usual horrible symptoms which doesn't get much sympathy from friends or medicos. I have been given strict instructions to taper my prednisone dose from 5mgs down which I dutifully did. However I really

mistake with steroids

After recent ups and downs I was taking 15mg per day but I have not been feeling at all well for the past few days. My head has felt peculiar and I have been feeling disorientated. This morning when I was about to take my medication I noticed that I did not have any more 5mg tablets left and I'm pretty

tapering off steroids

Hello I'm currently tapering off 5mg Prednisolone, initiated a few years ago when I had Covid which was triggering my severe asthma. I don't need it anymore for that reason except I was diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency a few years ago. Recently seen an endocrinologist and had a short synacthen

Statins & Steroids

I’ve been advised to take statins due to high cholesterol levels of 7.0, Serum triglycerides 2.3, HDL 2.5, HDL ratio 2.8, LDL 3.4, non HDL 4.5. I’m reluctant to take more meds but I’m unclear of the meaning of all the results and if I should take statins or not. I’ve read some articles stating that

help with steroids

I’ve been on steroids for about a year and a half. I’ve also had an infusion last September due to have another one in April. Rheumatology nurse said I need to get down off the steroids. I was on 15 than 10. I’m now on five but I feel so ill. Nothing is working. Can’t do anything I’m out of breath.

blood sugar and prednisalone

Has anyone found that their blood sugar has increased since taking steroids? I’ve been on steroids for nearly 3 years and when I tapered to 2.5 my blood sugar was normal. After a flare and having to increase my steroids to 5ths (I’m now tapering again) my blood sugar test went up from 40 to 43.
