Steroids and raised blood sugars
I am seeing my GP on Tuesday for the results of my recent blood test. I already have been told that my blood sugar levels are raised but have not yet been told the reading. I am currently on 7.5 mg Prednisolone for PMR and hope to taper down to 7 mg in a week or two. Has anyone managed to successfully

Non alcoholic fatty liver
I am overweight but that's because I'm on high dose
steroids
for my severe asthma. I've cut a large amount of sugar and only eat 2 meals a day with some snacks in-between. I gained weight rapidly without changing my food.

How long for Prednisone to kick in?
I started my rescue pack of Prednisone last Saturday (30mg) due to tight chest etc Usually after 2 or 3 days I begin to feel the results of the
steroids
. Today I have started to wind down the
steroids
as per usual but I still have the tight chest and not sure what to do.

If she has been on
steroids
for 5 years (which I have) or more, she may not be able to come off prednisolone completely and may now be steroid dependent. The aim in this situation should be to find the lowest possible dose.

Covid vaccines for encephalitis survivors
The symptoms lasted for months and I had to be prescribed
steroids
and antibiotics . I started having seizures again, and when I had 5 seizures in one day I was admitted to hospital where I lost the ability to speak and write .

Insomnia update - anyone used Sleepstation?
I am actually doing well on 17.5 mg of
steroids
, no aches, headaches etc it’s this insomnia that is getting me down. Interested if any of you have tried such a sleep programme with GCA and in the level of
steroids
I am currently taking.

Yesterday, I felt the
steroids
and antibiotics were doing something as I felt better after starting them on Monday, but today that bubble seems to have burst!

Steroid Injection
I have had right shoulder pain for weeks. The pain starts in my shoulder and then across my upper back. I have had it over the years but this time it’s been really bad. With all the problems trying to see a doctor I have just been taking co-codamol. In the end with the pain and not sleeping I managed

Tennis... Elbows....anyone...? Sudden onset..?
So, I conclude
steroids
did work ( therapeutically) for my hands...and elbow nerves / tendons...? As it was locally injected...? But not my feet..? Has anyone ever had such a weird set of symptoms..? I realise I might have a combination of medical issues here.

Teeth!
Following three months of intermittent neutropenia,
steroids
and 1 month of Obinutuzumab, just noticed some really marked yellow staining on my teeth, around the gums where you'd expect plaque/bacteria to pool. Slightly horrified as I've been going all out to keep them clean to prevent infection.

A sprinkle of Christmas magic & a dash of hope 💫
I just wasn’t willing to accept that, I could see so many errors in each round & I pushed for progesterone testing, possible
steroids
, using aspirin but they just weren’t interested.

Not sure what to do
My GP would like me to decrease my
steroids
as they have increased my BP but I am not keen to do this while still getting pain. Waiting list in our area to see an NHS Rheumatologist is at least 6 months.

Full removal of thyroid and parathyroid anxiety levels very high
thyroid and total parathyroid removed, they were both so enlarged that they were suffocating me, this was only discovered when the operation was performed, though I had been suffering serious breathing problems for the preceding year and had been prescribed various inhalers and regular prescriptions of

Long term steroid reduction and skin discoloration
I maintained it had something to do with the reduction of my
steroids
but my consultant did not agree. In February I had to increase my prednisolone to 5mg daily prior to a cataract operation and within a week my legs were back to normal, all discoloration gone.

My age was not cited as the main reason but that I have been on high doses of
steroids
over that last few years . (I know many on here are far higher than me).

Lupus and Asthma
after having asthma for 40+ years, my respiratory consultant seems to think I don’t have asthma after all - I have a cat scan that says airways consistent asthma and been treated last 7 years as severe/brittle asthmatic 🙈 and through long term high dose
steroids
I’ve got permanent adrenal insufficiency
