Follow up to my last post about nausea & unable to eat.
Then they decided I needed an extra 2 units of rapid acting insulin twice a day - because I was on
steroids
, they said. I told them I'd already allowed for that since I've been on
steroids
over 3 years but they insisted on giving it to me. I had a hypoglycaemic reaction.

GCA. LVV
Against whether I had either PMR or GCA.Because of this conclusion and knowing the side effects of
steroids
I tapered off in 11 weeks.

Covid causing Asthma flare
I've found that box breathing is helpful to ease my symptoms and I've started to take my rescue pack of
steroids
and I'm hoping that it will ease things a bit.

Anyone had to stop work on Heath grounds?
I’ve just had a year off during which I had a craniotomy and RT.( also taking
steroids
for GCA which isn’t helping!) I have just started a phased return to work. Work have been amazing and my return is very flexible. However, I don’t know if I can do it.

yesterday I saw my new rheumatologist and her advice was for me to start reducing my
steroids
by 1 mg per month until I get down to 5 mg ( I am currently on 11 mg a day and have been reducing by half a mg each month) then 1 mg every 2 months.

Not PMR? Not sure what to do next
Not sure the
steroids
worked as it hasn’t really improved. Went to a private rheumatologist, and have just had all the results back. She can see no cause of the pain, all bloods and scans have come back ok. Says it’s not PMR due to not presenting the symptoms and that he is male and under 65.

After 25 days back on prednisone...
Last week my C-rp was 3, down from 6 before returning to
steroids
. ESR was 23, down from 63. Will have regular bloods to keep track. Full glucose bloods showed possibly pre diabetic, have taken immediate steps to cut processed sugar from diet. Am life long vegetarian with a sweet tooth!

Drowning in mucous !
I have just done 7 days of Doxycycline (7 days more to take) and 5 days of
steroids
and the mucous just wont stop. I can feel it gurgling when I breathe in. I am able to cough it up easily enough but there`s no let up. I am seeing the consultant on the 5th October .

Facial Hair growth due to Cyclosporine
I have taken
Steroids
before and I know hair growth caused by it stops as it's s dose is tapered. I would like to know if anyone has experienced facial hair growth due to cyclosporine, if yes, does it last forever or does it stop as the dose is tapered.

painkilling spinal injections
He was very nice and extremely thorough and told me l have a soft spine, probably due to
steroids
, and would need an op to remove a bit of spine that had slipped and was pressing on nerves. He wants to operate and can do so in 4 weeks time but the bill will be £10,880.

re:- White blood cell count on steroids
Just had blood tests done and white blood cell count is high 16.4 10*9/L and am rather concerned, although as I understand this is a common side effect of
steroids
. Any experience of this please and reassurance would be much appreciated.

Hi! I just joined. CIDP: Is anyone like me?
I've lived with atopic dermatitis and multiple allergies all my life, which are controlled with local
steroids
, antihistamines and emollients. My mother had ankylosing spondylitis. Those facts, and my good response to prednisolone, convince me I have a autoimmune disease.
