Light on the horizon?
This opens up another pathway (for some patients) for a treatment pathway that's safer than
steroids
, therefore minimising the risk of some of those nasty side effects that frequently seem to pose so many additional health issues.

Update on inflammation/injections
The injections were in the soft tissue between the vertebrae, and were a mix of
steroids
and something else that I can't remember.

New, A Bit Scared, Would Appreciate Advice.
Fast forward to February, started having shortness of breath, but no wheezing or coughing, got sent to SDEC again due to medical history, they diagnosed exacerbation of asthma, more
steroids
and nebuliser treatment. However it felt like not being able to get enough air into my lungs.

lowering prednisolone
I decided to try to go without
steroids
for the last two days and apart from the usual shoulder ach when getting up, so far so good, I am now worried about getting an adrenal crisis/problem as haven’t a clue if my adrenals are working properly.

Hi! I just joined. CIDP: Is anyone like me?
I've lived with atopic dermatitis and multiple allergies all my life, which are controlled with local
steroids
, antihistamines and emollients. My mother had ankylosing spondylitis. Those facts, and my good response to prednisolone, convince me I have a autoimmune disease.

I have had 4x flare ups since taking it all linked to viral infections and taking the booster and have been given
steroids
each time which do bring my platelets back up.

help with the mental health side of vasculitis
Released from hospital a week ago with
steroids
to take. Rest for a few days the rash starts to fade and I can walk again fine and then I overdo it even just from being out and sitting down with no more than an hour up and I find myself completely covered again not being able to walk.

Covid. 7 chest infections (many
steroids
&antibiotics) 2 day stay in hospital with pneumonia. and one cracked rib......🤦♂️ So if any fellow Ct5k friends out there who are struggling a bit... It can be done.👍. Take it slowly, go back weeks when you get a setback...extra rest days between runs.

blood tests
She started me on Methotrexate. 3 weeks into Methotrexate my hand swelled again needing
steroids
(she did not see this my GP did) and she then said I don’t have an autoimmune disease it’s CRPS again .. she said my ANA was weakly positive and I’ve got 6 months on my meds that’s it.

Follow up to my last post about nausea & unable to eat.
Then they decided I needed an extra 2 units of rapid acting insulin twice a day - because I was on
steroids
, they said. I told them I'd already allowed for that since I've been on
steroids
over 3 years but they insisted on giving it to me. I had a hypoglycaemic reaction.

Currently popping
steroids
daily to reduce swelling, and I must say the energy I get is on another level. Probs why I’m not feeling depressed or teary. I’ve been referred to a hospital in London for treatment because I think it’s specialist equipment 🤷🏻♀️.

Offered montelukast
Inhalers and a course of
steroids
. I was just wondering if anyone has experience of taking montelukast? Quite scared to take it because of the potential side effects! I'm finally seeing respiratory for my tricky asthma in December.

Not PMR? Not sure what to do next
Not sure the
steroids
worked as it hasn’t really improved. Went to a private rheumatologist, and have just had all the results back. She can see no cause of the pain, all bloods and scans have come back ok. Says it’s not PMR due to not presenting the symptoms and that he is male and under 65.

1 year anniversary of Hybrid Mini maze
Everything was brilliant until Dec 2023 then wham AF hit, this was felt to be caused by pneumonia plus
steroids
and antibiotics. 2days in hospital followed , with them restarting apixaban and heart medication in preparation for a cardio version.

Incorrect Hospital Records
I’m a severe asthmatic, and the consultant has now noted “no definitive diagnosis for asthma” based on normal spirometry which is always carried out when I’m maxed out on nebs and
steroids
and normal feno.
