Teva being issued in Hillcross boxes!
I’ve had a few health issues since I got them, chest infection and a course of
steroids
and antibiotics and a bout of AFib so I took my eye off the ball. I had IBS symptoms for 2 weeks and put it down to antibiotics.

Esomoprazole and ablation recovery

Steroids, statins, strange query
I was put on 80mg Atvostatin mid Aug following a TIA/Afib episode and diagnosis. From mid September I started to suffer an intermittent throbbing, burning pain on the ball of my foot and last three toes. It comes on suddenly such as during the short 1 mile walk I’ve just completed. Bloods in Sept showed

Wondering why

Thought This a Thoughtful Read Given the Time We are All on Steroids.

HAIR LOSS
Dermatologist said combination of long-term use of
steroids
, Rituximab,Mepacrine any one of these or combination. I know with medical issues over last 11 years I should not be worried about hair loss but it is really getting me down. Any words of wisdom

painful shoulders after dead slow taper to 2mg.
I’m diabetic due to
steroids
. I’ve just started a drop to 2mg, again using a slow taper over a month. But for the last 5 days my shoulders have been hurting and getting worse. It’s not equal though, my left is worse and I’m finding it hard to dress.

TINGLY FEET
The tingly feeling seems just like having a flare when I need to increase my
steroids
. It goes as soon as I get up in the morning. I have arthritis in both knees as well as PMR. I feel like I am falling to bits.

State of the NHS
Within two hours I got a text saying they were prescribing
steroids
and I could pick them up at the chemist next door to the surgery later that afternoon. Btw I have an emergency pack of
steroids
for my asthma.

Plasma Viscosity + Tapering
I’m not sure whether to take that as the inflammation is increasing and the PMR is still very much active or whether being at such a low level of
steroids
my adrenal glands aren’t quite working as they should/catching up. It’s now making me very nervous about any further decrease in steroid dose.

Issues sleeping, and other things
Two weeks ago I started doxy followed by azithro & 10 days of
steroids
. Some mild SOB on incline walking in the last month. Normally I clear my mucus with sea swimming (fit & active 40 yr old M). A week ago I did an extra long sea session, to clear as much as I could.

Recurring infections?
She had said at our last appt that I should start tapering again and go to 9mg but though I am keen to get off
steroids
as soon as I can, I don’t think it wise to reduce just yet , but am I putting myself in a Catch 22 where the
steroids
are actually making it harder for me to recover?

Avatrombopag or should I try living with a low count? Does anybody have experience of either please?
Steroids
have been working well for me and usually a short course of a low dose will maintain my count for over 12 months. This year I have had a run of viral infections and COVID and have needed to take more
steroids
for a longer period.

Private Dexa Scan
He says he will arrange a dexa scan when/if I am off
steroids
, which he says may be in 1 - 1.5 years time. If it shows good bone density I can stop the bisphosphonate. I am happy with this but would like to have a private dexa scan now so I can know the baseline.

truly scrumptious
I went online and found that sure enough there was, through a reaction with
steroids
. I’ll quote “
Steroids
make the liver less sensitive to insulin so it carries on releasing glucose even if the pancreas is releasing insulin. “. I wondered if anyone else has experience of this.
