Cholesterol
Hello all, Following a recent blood test, I've received a message from my GP saying my cholesterol is a bit high and advising lifestyle changes and offering
statins
. I'm currently researching
statins
trying to make an informed decision. I read that it is advised for CVD.

PMR Flare
However on 17th March I started taking
statins
(Pravastatin) as my cholesterol is raised (think GPs are on a mission with this at the moment)...all seemed OK for about 4 weeks then I started getting symptoms of a flare. I upped my pred by 1mg usually works and stopped the

Statins and Hydroxychloroquine
Has anyone ever experienced a reaction when taking
statins
and hydroxychloroquine? I have had Palindromic RA for four years and hydroxyl has kept it under control with just occasional flares.

Doc wants me to start
statins
and I’ve always been very reluctant due to a bad reaction but recently had a call from the Pharmacist for a review and she said I could take one statin once a week and it would still help, not everyday which is usual!

Do Drs get a bonus for prescribing certain drugs ?
Does anybody know if Gps get a hand out for prescribing
statins
? There has been a lot of controversy in regard to this topic. Late yesterday afternoon I had a call from my surgery. It was a Dr I had never heard of or had I spoken to her before. She was suggesting I were put on
statins
!

My father was unwell on
statins
so I am anti. Should I increase my levo and still refuse
statins
as it seems that would be logical for me. My diet is healthy, although I am not totally gluten free, I don’t buy or eat much bread but do cook from scratch.

Adding calcium in order to strengthen bones
I do take vitamin K2 Question 2: Will
statins
do anything for my heart health? A low cholesterol count doesn't mean less calcification as I understood and I am not sure
statins
will lower cholesterol levels.

NICE guidance on statins
I recall seeing a reference to NICE guidance suggesting that
statins
should not be prescribed unless hypothyroidism has been eliminated. I’m struggling to find it and should be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction. Many thanks

Travel Insurance questions on Acalabrutinib
While on the subject- does anyone know whether saying you are on
Statins
(high cholesterol) helps with getting travel insurance or not. I have been given the option of starting
Statins
or not by GP - it’s up to me.

Statins and prednisolone
Consulting Google while waiting for a GP slot, I decided to stop the
statins
and within a day or two relief from the digestive disorder was just great.I realise I will probably need to reinstate the
statins
when I'll hope for a smoother passage.
