Statins

Would someone remind me whether statins are not advisable for a hypothyroid female of 76 please? I had a blood test a few months back and my cholesterol is fine but my GP still put statins on repeat for me.

I recently saw a cardiologist who mentioned asprin and statins. My question is can these make rls worse? At present I am taking 1800mg gabapentin and 60mg codeine.

So I have esinophillic asthma, and I have just been put on statins , Atorvastatin 40mg . But I have read you can't take with Montelukast or Azithromicin antibiotic. Both of which I take regularly. Has anyone on Atorvastatin and on Montelukast and Azithromicin and been OK.

Would have been much worse if I hadn't been on statins?; statins are actually not effective; any other ideas? yhnx

My gp has tried to put me on Statins but they make me zonked out . My pharmacist says I shouldn’t take Simvastin if I take Amlodopine which I do . Any advice would be appreciated. Marilyn

Has anyone here had problems with statins?? Am on 3rd lot-- Atorvastin affected my liver, Ezetimibe made me so tired couldn't do anything,now on rosuvastatin but feeling really tired again! I feel at 67 need a good quality of life and keep getting pressured to take these!

What statins do you currently take and what dosage? Do any of you take statins to prevent recurrence specifically? I would like to know if there's a recommended dosage for repurposed use for PCA recurrence.

And part of dropping that ball is not taking statins when needed. And did you know that statins can be associated with a lower incidence of atrial fibrillation, as well as lowering the stroke risk? That in addition to lowering the risk for CAD.

a month or so ago I read an article about NHS not recommending statins with a thyroid problem. I saved it but can’t find it. I am seeing cardiologist tomorrow who is going to ask if I sm taking my statins.

Hi I have been on a statin just over 3weeks now and am putting on weight. Is this a normal occurrence .Thank you I am on Atorvastatin 20 mg.

I was reading about statins -- my rheum dr wants me to take one but my primary care thinks that since imaging ofmy heart showed that there aren't blockages it was not necessary and would just increase PMR symptoms.

Has anyone else noticed a connection between statins and these bleeds?

I have had the inevitable call from my GP practice about prescribing statins.

I have been taking a high dose of atrovastatin. It caused a lot of pain and weakness in my muscles to the point of falling in the street. I stopped taking them and feel 90% better. Can I recover the muscle weakness? Walking and doing some exercises on my leg muscles. C.

He suggested it was time I thought about taking statins. Thing is, I always thought statins were for high cholesterol which I didn't have when last tested. Also, my blood pressure is in a normal range, the systolic varying between 120 and 130.

How many people experience discomfort from statins, enough to discontinue against medical advice? I stopped due to losing memory ( CRS has resolved after) and having a flat affect. I didn't die, but was I alive? I heard too many times " let's find the right statin for you", cringe worthy.

They are now pumping me with even more drugs (anti platelets , statins, aspirin , stomach saving meds etc). I’m happy to take everything except statins.

Anyone take these gp doesn't want me to take statins but always says my cholesterol should be lower.
