I have recently been prescribed Atorvastatin due to 8.4 cholesterol. Had thyroidectomy 20 years ago. Been on 75mg thyroxine for some time. Had some blood results for cholesterol and noticed that my tsh has increased to 2.75 .. normally is suppressed at 0.003 approx. Trying to get bloods done for T4

All of my results for cholesterol were within the ranges but my doc advised that it’s recommended I go on
statins
as my Qrisk2 score was above 20%.

I have read that T can be a side affect of taking
statins
, or is this just a coincidein my case? I'm thinking of stopping the
statins
as I'd rather risk a heart attack or stroke than live like this. Has anyone else experienced this?

Statins - Thank You
Two weeks ago I saw someone say about the problems they had with
Statins
. I stopped taking my
Statins
and the difference has been amazing. Fibro has so many quirks. My GP said that
Statins
and Fibro don't work together. I believe its true and that is enough for me

cramps caused by statins?
During that time he has had to switch
statins
3 times due to pain and cramps in shoulders. He is now suffering terribly from continuous cramping in his legs. Do you feel it is the
statins
causing this?

I suggested the issue may be the
statins
but that was dismissed as he said if it was, it would affect all my muscles and not just my arm and back. Has anyone else experienced this and is he right, would the pain not just be restricted to certain areas?

I’m afraid to stop

as a high cholesterol was blamed for my heart attack.

PMR and statins
He was then put on
statins
, and every week for the last three he has had a flare, not sure if it’s coming off them, even though he has come off by slow tapering, or could it be the
statins
? Hence he is now back on 2mg daily. Wondered if anyone else has had any problems with
statins
?

statins and RLS
My doctor wants me to take
statins
but I am so afraid they will trigger RLS as mine are fairly well controlled at the moment. I think I read on here that there are alternatives to
statins
, but I have not been able to find any names. Can anyone help?

Doc wants me to start
statins
and I’ve always been very reluctant due to a bad reaction but recently had a call from the Pharmacist for a review and she said I could take one statin once a week and it would still help, not everyday which is usual!

Statins and Hydroxychloroquine
Has anyone ever experienced a reaction when taking
statins
and hydroxychloroquine? I have had Palindromic RA for four years and hydroxyl has kept it under control with just occasional flares.

Cholesterol
Hello all, Following a recent blood test, I've received a message from my GP saying my cholesterol is a bit high and advising lifestyle changes and offering
statins
. I'm currently researching
statins
trying to make an informed decision. I read that they are advised for CVD.
