Dx Feb 2018 20mg

Been OK on 3mg since January, testing out 2.5mg occasionally. it's my Nemesis but I'll get there eventually.

However on 17th March I started taking statins (Pravastatin) as my cholesterol is raised (think GPs are on a mission with this at the moment)...all seemed OK for about 4 weeks then I started getting symptoms of a flare. I upped my pred by 1mg usually works and stopped the statins. Symptoms were getting worse so went to 6mg for 7 days...still no better so in desperation I've taken 10mg last 2 days though still a bit stiff and achey there is some improvement.

I have never had a flare like this before, possibly the statins ?

So I would now very much appreciate some advice. 10mg seems a bit high but at least it seems to have helped and I'm hoping to get back in control...But what do I do next ?

I don’t think statins stay in your system for long so may have nothing to do with the flare

You can take 10mg for a few more days…. Usual advise is no longer than 14 days on higher dose…before it impacts your drop back down.

See here -

But I’d drop back down in a couple of steps.. say to 7 or 7.5mg for a week or so, and then down to 3 or 3.5mg… for a few weeks before considering your next move.
