Under active thyroid & taking statins
I told her I was surprised as I have a really good diet & watch what I eat, she said it may be down to my under active thyroid and mentioned prescribing
statins
. I told her I need to do some research first & came across this site. There are a few posts re cholesterol/
statins
& many mention T3.

advice please
The clinic letter prescribing the extra
statins
and beta blockers has still not arrived with gp and appointment was 3 weeks ago! Also on waiting list for angiogram. My worry is that my chest pain doesn’t seem to come on after walking or exercising but when I am at rest.

New Job, stressed regarding previous health
Obviously i have had angina but following the stent i have no symptoms, feel perfectly healthy and daily take Aspirin,
statins
and blood pressure pills. The new job is for a duel fuel smart meter engineer, nothing physically demanding.

Thank you for your replies to my question. I will ask as soon as I next see doctor. It still appears to be a minefield of choices when you have Nash and diabetes as well as all the other ailments that come with being 75. I’m fortunate to be quite fit but do work at it so one good thing. Thanks again

Feeling confused!
And since
statins
don't bring down LP(a) - and may in fact increase it - it is useful to me to take a statin? What would it lower? Thank-you in advance for any information you can offer.

Concern over liver function test
I was discharged with
statins
and other medication pending an MRI. I'm still waiting for the MRI and my consultant appointment is not until mid-April.

Leg Pain
I stopped taking
statins
for a while and that allowed me to run again ok but I still have achy and sore muscles. It’s mainly hamstrings but a bit in my calves. Doesn’t seem to be exercise related as I can get it in bed as well Anyone else have this?

Atorvastatin
Initially I took it at night as I’ve read that our bodies make cholesterol at night so taking
statins
at night makes them more effective. I’m pretty sure it gave me disturbing dreams so I’ve changed it to break time! My cholesterol has dropped to 4 now which is great.

Low statin dose increased lipoprotein a significantly
I have elevated lipoprotein a [lp(a)] and elevated cholesterol levels, am 70 years old and have a coronary artery calcium [CAC] score of 0 (or did before I started
statins
a short while ago). I just learned about the lp(a) level around 18 months ago.

Can an excess of carbimazole (hyperthyroid medidaction) cause high triglycerides? How long does it take to normalise levels?
Somehow the carbimazole has given me hypothyroidism, so I would not like to start taking
statins
until the carbimazole dose is adjusted.

Exercise with mitral regurgitation
The medication is
statins
