Help boosting thyroid without medication?
Hello all I have posted before as my thyroid function is poor but always comes back in range (my TSH never rises even with low levels) so no chance of medication on the NHS (other than
statins
for high cholesterol which I refuse).

heart failure and type 2 diabetes.
Stage 3 kidney disease, diagnosed June ‘23, I cannot tolerate
statins
as they send my blood Glucose levels into overdrive, most recently last June. The Doctor wanted to give me metformin but I declined for now as I know the side effects are unpleasant.

Interesting study on combination of statins and metformin in high-risk patient outcomes
I'd been on
statins
forever (hyperlipidemia), but added metformin when the rumor went around (Snuffy Myers I believe) that it did good things for PCa patients.

Cholesterol and QRISK score
My GP has just completed my annual review and has referred me to the GP specialist Pharmacist to discuss
statins
. My cholesterol has always been well controlled with a reading of around 5 (I was told my good cholesterol was excellent).

Statins/PMR
I'm sure I have read on here about
statins
causing increase in symptoms of PMR but my GP wasn't having it?

stubborn hypertension
Then put on
statins
and clopidogril and an increase of Ramipril and new med Felodopine as BP had increased. Still trying to get it down under 140/90, nearly there, losing a stone and a half helped. Should do more exercise. Hoping for better results next week when it is checked.

Can You Refuse Certain Blood Tests
I know my cholesterol is high but wont take
statins
so frankly they are wasting my time and theirs, I dont want thyroid tested again as I self source T3 and and am concerned they'll freak out about suppressed TSH. Plus only 3 months since thyroid was last tested.

Gp denial
I SAW ONE OF MY GPS YESTERDAY CONCERNING MEDICATION FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE recom by my renal clinic, when asked about statin medication he denied that
statins
raised blood sugars, he seems either he lied to me, or is not looking at information about statin drugs

Drinking alcohol
I'm on heart meds/
statins
. My question is should I be drinking for 14 days . I do drink but about once a week . To break even I would have to have at least 5 alcoholic drinks a day. My husband is also on blood pressure pills. Advice would be Welcome

stent blocked ?
Stopped the
statins
for a week to see if it’s that , but more worrying got ache in my left arm yesterday when I wasn’t doing anything . I’m terrified the stent has blocked or I have a clot somewhere .

LDL analysis testing
My cardiac rehab team said that I may not even need
Statins
as it depends what fats are in the LDL. There is a blood teat for this but they didn’t know if it was available on the NHS. The GP wasn’t aware of the test either. I think it is called a LDL particle test.

continued RLS after stopping statin
As one post I read here said, many here may know and accept that
statins
can cause RLS. My PCP is sceptical of this and wondered why I still have RLS if I no longer take a statin. I was just wondering if anyone here found that stopping
statins
helped with RLS. Thanks!

Afib Stroke Risk Lower in those that take Statins
Something to discuss with your doctor if you're not already on
statins
, especially if you're boderline or even don't qualify for
statins
under current guidelines.

Reducing cholesterol
I’ve been told I can have
statins
, which I agreed to take, with much regret, because they are powerful drugs and I’m already taking Warfarin and Bisoprolol, and
statins
do have an effect on these.
