There's been an upsurge in posts concerning low-carb (LCHF) recently, so if you're thinking of giving this a go after your holiday indulgences, herewith a short FAQ ... and a bit

Cauliflower in ginger sauce with roast parsnips, low carb vegan.
Hi everyone, Here's what I had for diner tonight, I'd already bought a local grown cauliflower and some parsnips when I noticed a reply with a member saying they were pre-diabetic and vegan so I thought I'd bake the cauliflower and parsnips and keep it plant based and low carb and it's also gluten free

I’m not quite a new member but have only really decided to do something about my weight. In 2010 my husband died. Ever since then I have been dogged with ill health and other rubbish happening in my life. I have AF, had 2 hip replacements, broken left ankle. Last year in October I was diagnosed with

Are Prednisolone steroids bad when you have Hashis ?
Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well. I’ve had a nasty cough and went doctors thinking I’d get antibiotics but he said it was a virus and because my asthma had gotten worse ( peak flow dropped a bit) I should take a short course of steroids (prednisolone 5 mg ..6 a day for 5 days). I read that they

The third and fourth

down and recover, it was like my bearings were damaged and I was incapable of adjusting gear. I gritted my teeth and ran hard the last 80 metres, just for a bit more suffering.

Vit-K, Calcium and Vit-D
During my last visit few days ago, I asked my rheumy why I was not given vit-K. He said that calcium and vit-D are good enough for me, there might be other side effects if he added vit-k to me. Any idea of this? I am so blur if this is the case? I told him that I read to know about the important

Calling all Low Dose Naltrexone experts
Hi all, I need advice please - I started on LDN 2 nights ago & it’s given me depression & chronic tiredness. I have Hashi’s & UC as well as ME so didn’t feel too good to begin with but LDN has made everything much worse. Can anyone let me know if these side effects are normal & will go away? Thank

When is the best time for peak flow measurement?
I think I’ve asked this question before but I would be grateful for clarification. I usually take a peak flow reading before my combo inhaler and about 1 hour after. Last night I was at 76% which increased to 89% post combo inhaler (no other meds taken). Which reading is the best one to judge how well

Sadly, Christmas isn't fun for everyone
What will you be eating this Christmas? Tom's been eating 900 calories a day since his bariatric surgeon gave him an intragastric balloon. Arthur can barely remember a day when he wasn't on some sort of diet. And Lizzie is still the same weight she always was, despite obsessively weighing herself every

Blood test results
Hi, in my recent blood test results calcium, potassium and sodium levels were above normal range (all others, including LFT, ALT were normal range). I try to follow low sodium diet. GP has asked for repeat test. Has anyone else have similar results. So far only diagnosis is mild to high Fibrosis.
