Are Prednisolone steroids bad when you have Hashis ?

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well.

I’ve had a nasty cough and went doctors thinking I’d get antibiotics but he said it was a virus and because my asthma had gotten worse ( peak flow dropped a bit) I should take a short course of steroids (prednisolone 5 mg ..6 a day for 5 days).

I read that they suppress your immune system and I’ve been having crazy dreams and not sure if they are helping. I’m also a bit concerned if they will affect my hypothyroid/ hashimotos balances . Does anyone know ? Thanks 😊

I had a persistent cough for months that would not go. Having hypothyro/hashi same as you, I was desperate for it to go, and the doctor as a last resort put me on a 5 day course of prednisolone.

It was magic. The cough went and I've never had it back. I cannot remember having any side effects.

Thank you 😊. I couldn’t get sleep last night, I think I’m just unfortunate and it affects me. Usually I’m out like a light ! But I think the cough is a lot better. So I’ve decided to leave them off because I need some 😴. X
