I’m not quite a new member but have only really decided to do something about my weight. In 2010 my husband died. Ever since then I have been dogged with ill health and other rubbish happening in my life. I have AF, had 2 hip replacements, broken left ankle. Last year in October I was diagnosed with breast cancer. My weight has gone up over the last 9 years and I’m 60 soon and looking like a lump of lard! My sister is taking me out for a special birthday treat and I don’t want to go because of how I look. I know I’m not going to loose 5 stone in 10 weeks (I wish!), but I need to do something. Any help will be appreciated! I fancy doing the low carb, high fat diet but don’t know where to start.

Oh I'm sorry you've had such a hard time, this might help with where to start ? X
Hi, Drummerswidow .
I am sorry you have had a hard time.
My wife died in 2016 - I put on another 1½ stone but I have now lost 4½ stone, and I am 70.
¿How to start LCHF?
If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.
Some of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:
Hi Drummerswidow, and welcome. LCHF was definitely a turning point for me and you would possibly make a significant difference in 10 weeks - and make sure your birthday celebrations are planned to cater for the change in eating habits! The Awful Toad has written a brilliant post today explaining LCHF, unfortunately I don’t know how to link you to it but please look for it.
Thank you all. I’m going to give it a go! Wish me luck!
