Better consenting for thyroidectomy: who has an increased risk of postoperative hypocalcaemia?
How very right it is that patients should be assessed as well as possible, and that consent should be properly detailed and accurate. The possibility of reducing further the risks is definitely a laudable aim. [i]Eur Arch Otorhinolaryngol. 2016 Dec;273(12):4437-4443. Epub 2016 May 20.

Annoying legs
I first started having RLS as a teenager, I'm now in my 60s. When I was pregnant with my last child my ex husband came home on a break and found me punching my legs till they were black and blue. At 8 mths I couldn't sit down or lie down I just stood and knitted till early hours. My GP gave me tranxene

Many Health questions
Having a father who passed young due to his unbelief in doctors it also affected us kids and me due to a mysterious illness finally attributed to Sjögren's and fibromyalgia and Chronic fatigue or Narcolepsy but to suffer from the age of 8 and be told so often that I had to be depressed or it was all

Neo cytamen
My b12 injections were changed to cobalamin h 12 weeks ago but I have a reaction to them. My doctor tried to print a prescription for neo cytamen but his computer said he could no longer issue this on NHS. Does anyone know why? I live in Scotland.

Duloxetine
Hi, I have recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia & prescribed duloxetine for the pain. Only tried one & felt sick, dizzy & shaky. Took the pill around 7pm & had a restless night. Not sure if I should try taking this at a different time of day? Anyone with anything positive to say about this medication

Ampyra
Anyone on Ampyra? Does it help you with walking? I started a two month trial. Only been on a few days. FYI: the company will give you a two month trial if your doctor requests it. They also have an assistant program. I understand the cost is $2,000 or above a month.

Acupoints Massage Therapy For PPMS
For years I tried to reach out for PPMS patients like me. Since 1995, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and IBS. In year 2000, I was confirmed with Spinal Cord MS. Injections and oral medications (except Elavil) did not slow down my progression. In 2011, I was in the hospital and came home in wheelchair

Amitiza vs Linzess
Is anyone on Linzess? I have been taking amitiza (24mcg twice daily) for over a year now. I have bowel issues due to MS (neurogenic bowels and motility problems). For the most part, amitiza has helped, but not totally corrected the problem. My gastroenterologist has mentioned trying Linzess. I have NO

Hi Ladies! How is everyone!!? I've just come back from new doctors surgery and signing in with nurse. Just realised I am "overweight" according to my bmi and her workings. Been told to watch it a bit, freaked me out and already started down regging. Rubbish bedside manner on her part as she could

Trying to wean off Mirapexin nightmare.
To tide me over whilst trying to come off mirapexin, because of augmentation problems, my gp prescribed me clonazepam and quinine . I went home with high hopes that this was going to stop the torture I was going through, and also let me sleep. However, it made my symptoms so much worse that I was awake

Has anyone been prescribed modafinil to help in the short term with fatigue?
I find the most difficult part of this disease is the severe fatigue. I've been 6 months on methotrexate and am seeing the rheumatologist tomorrow and want a strategy to deal with the fatigue whilst waiting, hopefully for another DMARD medication to do its work. I work fulltime but since my return to

Relaxation CD
I want to mention a Relaxation CD that I have found helpful. It has a number of different techniques. The first two sections are instruction type talk. I found the 3rd ( 5 minutes of deep breathing) and the 4th (progressive muscle relaxation) to be the sections I use the most. There is also guided imagery

Advice on blood results please
Hi everyone, I would appreciate some input into my latest( and former)results please. I have been up and down with Hashis some time now, it now seems to be getting more erratic. It started Aug, 2016 when I was feeling jittery etc., so went to my gp to ask for blood test. These were all taken early morning
