Anybody got any tips for dealing with the emotional roller coaster of surgery?
I've had Gorlin's diagnosed for 11 years but BCCs for 20 years. I've just joined this group because of the following problem: I used to be able to have a lesion removed in the morning and go to work in the afternoon. Things have changed and now I get a bit angry when I'm told I have to have an op (not

Clinical trial shows sunscreen is effective in preventing UV from causing genetic damage and protects against the three forms of skin cancer
Down under, we are heading into another summer and so will need to be vigilant about sun safety, given the increased risk of skin cancers that goes with CLL. For those that wonder whether smearing a chemical concoction over the largest organ in your body is wise, the Queensland University of Technology

My running drought is over!
3 weeks after I had to take off my running shoes and give my legs a break, on the advice of a podiatrist, due to
shin
splints
, bunions, pronation and ridiculously hypermobile feet...I got back out there again yesterday.

Sciatica and shin splints
I think I have
shin
splints
and my sciatica, which hasn't been a problem for eight years, has come back with a vengeance. So badly in fact that my leg was buckling underneath me during my last walk. I'm wearing running trainers, stretching, resting in between days.

Bad news from the podiatrist this morning :-(
As suspected, I have
shin
splints
. Good news is that they have not been caused by over training necessarily, but by a combination of pronation, bunions and hypermobility in my foot and toe joints.

Pleasantly surprised by my 2nd go at the Speed podcast, and a day of discoveries!
So...
shin
splints
and hypermobility all in one day - who knew?!

Disappointment Personified
Well, I went to the St Andrews Parkrun this morning all full of vim and vigour, promising this would be a good one. 23 minutes should keep Aftabs at bay for a little while longer. The first two km went according to plan - a little over schedule but definitely heading for a PB. Unfortunately, I let

Back before I found out I was pregnant, I suffered with
shin
splints
really badly and was referred to orthopedics. I only had that appointment today (at 18wks) My specialist watched me walk and examined my legs and feet. Then told me about the footwear I should be wearing.

Post graduate run.....not good.
Hoping it is not the start of
shin

HEALTH LOCKED (for the time being)
Head colds, mishaps, muscle strains &
shin
splints
are but a few of the unfortunate things that stop us from getting out there and doing what C25K meant us to do. It's amazing how frustrating it is NOT being able to do ones run. Personally speaking, a year ago (sod that, 6 months ago!)

After a bad day at work, I came home and was all about "Nah, I'm too tired/ I need a coffee first...coffee equals I have to run to the loo all the time...conclusion: No run for me today". I started cooking dinner, then my stubbornness came back and there was no way I would skip my run today. If I started
