Sciatica and shin splints

I am so gutted: just finished W2 R3 and I have been bitten by the running bug. I feel I could run and run and run if it weren't for this pain. I think I have shin splints and my sciatica, which hasn't been a problem for eight years, has come back with a vengeance. So badly in fact that my leg was buckling underneath me during my last walk. I'm wearing running trainers, stretching, resting in between days. I was so looking forward to week three and now I feel like I won't be able to do it! I think I'll see the doctor and see if the physio can sort me out. :0(

I feel your pain, I get flare ups of sciatica for no good reason and it is so darn painful. Doc and physio sounds good to me. Shin splints often strikes new runners hopefully it will settle down while you rest up. Don't be put off, give it another try once you are able, I hope you are in less pain very soon.


Thanks OldGirl - I've been doing the exercises the physio gave me when I was 18 for my sciatica and they seem to have helped a lot. I'm hoping my shins sort themselves out! Week 3, Run 1 tonight! X
