Post graduate run.....not good.

I am so annoyed. Just got back from my 1st post graduate run and it has to be one of my worst. I downloaded the other Laura post C25K podcast for stamina and I think I done too much. 10 minutes in and my legs were hurting as I was running faster than I normally would, then the speed increased! By 13 minutes I could not keep up with my breathing and my lower legs were hurting. All in all I got to 17 minutes (after stopping once!). The front/side of my legs are painful. Hoping it is not the start of shin splints? :-( Think I need to quit those podcasts as too much for me. Fitness wise it is too ahead for me.

Hi Eve I tried stamina and just could not do it , but i am quite old, so I made my own playlist or I listen to the radio, but still go out 3 times a week and really enjoy my running. Pat :-)

Hi. I found this too. Now we do one 5k, one 30 min and one "speed" podcast. I can't quite keep up with the beat yet on this but am getting better.

I think I will stick to my own playlist then as it seems the other is just too much for me! Maybe I can go back to it once I feel more ready!

I've done the stamina podcast run today for the first time, having graduated a couple of weeks ago and run 5k in 30 minutes pretty much every run since then...

...Phew! I spent the first 10 minutes thinking how crazy it was to head off so fast - I usually spend the "toxic 10" easing myself into the run, finding my pace, getting my breathing going and settling my brain into running mode. No chance of any of that this run - it felt like full flight from the off!

I found it relentless and quite intense, so I can imagine it must be pretty overwhelming for anyone who has only just got used to running for 30 minutes non-stop and at their own pace.

Maybe try the stepping stone podcast? Compared to stamina, it will feel a bit more relaxed (slower speeds, 5 minutes shorter). Or keep repeating week 9 (which I have done) and maybe upping your speed gradually (push through the last 5 minutes, for example).

You have graduated, which is a huge achievement - now the only goal is to carry on enjoying your running :-)
