Caution
Hi folks just a word of warning, two weeks ago I started on the Keytone diet, very low carb, protein and a balance of fat, but a lot more fat than I would normally eat. All went well untill yesterday. I had a TIA, ie a mini stroke, very scary, I am on beta blockers and warfarin, so the question is ,

What a difference a year makes !
I posted the following in the 'Bridge to 10k' forum a few days ago and it has been suggested that Couch to 5k members might also find it interesting and hopefully supportive to your running journeys: I recently passed the anniversary of my starting c25k. So what's happened during that year? Well Runkeeper

How strict are you on low-carbs?
I’m trying to bring my A1c back to 5.6. My last test in April showed 5.7. It had always been 5.6 since diagnosed with PMR/GCA in January 2019. I Started on 40 mg of pred, now at 10. I had gotten somewhat off track after Christmas. I’ve read that 40- 50 grams of carbs a day is considered low

LCHF 4 yrs
LCHF. Well that was pre April 2019. CABGx4. What now ? What does the research say about LCHF and risk of further occlusion or Afib or heart attack after and attack and CABG ? At least one definitive source from the Keto/LCHF world says my questions outpace the science. If you know anything do please

LCHF Advice
I have just been reading more about this diet plan, when I googled it the first site is Diabetes UK. My question is, is this diet aimed more at people with diabetes? I don’t have diabetes so would this diet be suitable for me or would I be better with the 5.2 diet Thanks

Grilled Chicken Cobb Salad 🥗 🥘🍗
This was tonight’s dinner when I went out. Really fantastic taste and very low carb high protein.😀👍👍 It has 12 total carbs. for the entire salad. Also, it’s gluten free since there’s no croutons in it.😀👍

Intermittent Fasting and Keto: The Pros and Cons
Intermittent fasting (IF) and ketogenic diets are all the rage now. They both promote fat burning. But how well do these two approaches combine? Ketogenic diets promote fat burning by restricting carbs, which forces you to rely more on dietary fat. IF restricts all calories for a large part of the day

New cook book for low carb diets
Having many side effects from prednisolone I was told I am now pre diabetic so have been trying hard to have a low carb no sugar diet. Have found this very monotonous but was delighted to find a new cook book Pinch of Nom 100 slimming style recipies Kate Allison and Kay Featherstone. Do look for it

while discussion about take Light beer for diabetes people Please looks at this picture how much carbs
The numbers are the grams of carbs in one 12 oz. bottle of beer (355 ml). There are huge differences between different brands, but most contain too many carbs to fit a keto diet. Even on a more liberal low-carb diet it might be wise to keep beer drinking as an occasional thing.

Concerning advice re A&E
I have silent Brittle asthma that has been fairly stable for around 9 years but been extremely unstable since Dec last year. I have posted before and had some fab support, but this has been a weird and disconcerting shift ..... I finally got to see respiratory Consultant at my local hospital, but gutted

Diabetes
I realise this is the weight-loss forum, but diabetes and obesity are inextricably linked, and we seem to have had quite a few posts on the subject lately. I was unable to respond to lucigret's tag on a closed thread, so herewith a few thoughts on the subject. 1) Back when my mum was a ward sister,

IF and Understanding and treating Diabetes - Dr Jason Fung
We have had a couple of posts about diabetes - but I thought that this warranted a post to itself... I found this video about understanding and treating diabetes ...by Dr Jason Fung. https://youtu.be/Gw61ad-wedo It starts with “Understanding diabetes”.... but about halfway through he starts talking about

Re: Calories and stalled weight loss
After reading The Toad's post on calories and all your input, I decided to mention a couple people that some of you might be interested in reading/listening to. First is an author Robb Wolf who wrote a book called Wired to Eat. I found out about it via Amy Berger. He presents the theory that everyone

Asthma copd overlap.
Hi all. Really this is more about my asthma I think. But we will see. I am 55yr s old male. About 6 years ago after a major cold I started to need a puff of ventolin here and there , given by the GP but no steroid. This was ok for a while but I gradually needed more and more. After a while I went back

To eat or not to eat?
Interesting stuff came out of my post on calories, particularly from those posters who are near their goal weight but just can't quite get where they want to be. I was pondering on all this, because I'm pretty certain artificial caloric restriction and/or extensive fasting can't be the answer. Yes, it'll

I am rigidity- dominant PD ; My personal experience!
I am rigidity -dominant PD and like other PwPD my main issues arise when imbalances between Acetylcholine and Dopamine and other neurotransmitters occur. I think we are either Dopamine- dominant or Acetylcholine- dominant( my case) PD. 📍📍Note: The DaTSCAN image doesn't belong to me and that's for
