Low Carb Bread
Just starting out on this low carb journey, not keto but attempting to keep carbs below 30gm a day, I find breakfast hardest as I work night duty so by 8am I'm pretty hungry, I enjoyed bacon and egg (who doesn't) but miss having a piece of toast. Found this bread in Aldi and at 2.5gm per slice I thought

Being proactive or just plain gobby
Back in October 2019 I started all the signs of a flare up. I suffer from bronchiectasis and bronchiolitis obliterans. Suddenly my chest hurt, mucus became thicker than usual and was a real effort to budge. I checked my oxygen level, down to 88 and peak flow was 100. (normal 94/96 and 120) So got

Hi my partner has to take BP meds - his cholesterol is fine. Would the Keto LCHF be ok for him - he’s worrying that eating foods high in fat will make his cholesterol bad.

Why do they rank the Keto diet worst for health?
Hello everyone Last Monday during my weigh in I admited that I was going nowhere with my plans of losing weight. I lost 3 stones 4 years ago, got pregnant and breastfed for more than a year, and stopped 6 months ago. Ever since Ive been trying to lose weight again but I dont seem to succeed. So I joined

Frothy mucous?
Hi all! There are so many knowledgeable people on here that I thought I'd put my question to you. I have COPD, asthma and bronchiectasis. I get more good days than bad days, thankfully, and have only had two chest infections since July 2019, the last one being in September. I'm now noticing that I have

Fasting with a LCHF lifestyle
Hi all Sorry if I’m repeating myself 🙄 I’m interested in doing the lchf whilst fasting however I get all flummoxed about it! How much carb do I have a day and how much high fat. I need it to be easy to do as I don’t want to start having to weigh everything etc. Or do I just eat a healthy balance of

The Diet Doctor.com Project
As many of us provide this project as a great reference point, I thought it may be helpful to understand the background for any not familiar with it. It is a social enterprise project dependent on crowd funding through a membership fee. Dr Andreas Eenfeldt started is around 2007 as a family blog site

Adrenal cortisol & DHEA results
I recently did another saliva test to see if my cortisol/DHEA is affecting my insomnia. I feel so much better during the day, since starting Low dose Naltrexone (LDN), but would like to fix my chronic insomnia. My cortisol levels seem to have decreased slightly since my last text approx 19 months ago

New Year, Less Flab
Well, it's that time of year when we'll all be making New Year resolutions (and then promptly forgetting about them :) ). There's been an upsurge in posts concerning low-carb (LCHF) recently, so if you're thinking of giving this a go after your holiday indulgences, herewith a short FAQ ... and a bit

Cauliflower in ginger sauce with roast parsnips, low carb vegan.
Hi everyone, Here's what I had for diner tonight, I'd already bought a local grown cauliflower and some parsnips when I noticed a reply with a member saying they were pre-diabetic and vegan so I thought I'd bake the cauliflower and parsnips and keep it plant based and low carb and it's also gluten free

Almost newbie looking for help.
I’m not quite a new member but have only really decided to do something about my weight. In 2010 my husband died. Ever since then I have been dogged with ill health and other rubbish happening in my life. I have AF, had 2 hip replacements, broken left ankle. Last year in October I was diagnosed with

Scared of taking prednisolone
I’ve never taken steriods before and I’m terrified of taking them (had bad reaction to tablets once and it’s scared me) Asthma is normally controlled and only causes problems with triggers or colds etc. Started with a cold 7 days ago and it gave me a bad cough and wheezing. Peak flow was down from 500

Peak flow averages question.
Saw nurse this morning who told me she doesn't think I have asthma because although the preventer inhaler I was given has made my peak flows go up I get symptoms when my peak flow is above the average for my age height weight etc (450) and I don't feel I'm my normal self until I'm like 470-500. See

Lesson learnt
After 7 day course of prednisolone, rang asthma UK helpline for advice on day 7 as I wasn't completely better. Advised to contact my doctors late afternoon after 5pm and explain my situation. Requested for the duty doctor to ring me. I spoke to the doctor who went through my history and was advised to

Fiberneualgia
I have found that taking low dose Naltrexone helps the pain of fiberneualgia as well as most auto immune issues. I started with 1/2 mg and slowly increased it to 4mgs. I knew I had to increase it when the pain started to return. I am also on a low carb diet, meaning I have pretty much eliminated sugar
