Ever since I was 18 years old I had really painful periods and cramps during the month. I went to the doctors and was told that these pains are part of ovulation and I should take the pill. For a about a year and a half - 2 years I was on and off with the pill as I had allergies with different types of pill that I took so I stopped taking them. For the past 8 years I’ve been back and forth with the GP about these cramps. I’ve been given tablets to help with the pain but they have been ineffective like over the counter medicine.
Then finally this year I saw a different doctor at the GP that took me seriously that wanted me to do an ultra scan to test for endo. The nurse said to me that I have signs of endo then was told that I have a 2cm cyst on my right ovary and tissue outside my womb. 3 months later I see a consultant last week and they want me to do a MRI scan and I’m waiting for the appointment letter. I was also given co-dydramol tablets which hasn’t helped with the pain so far.
So what I wanted to ask is how do you deal with the pain as I’ve taken loads of time off work this year as the pain is so bad. It feels like someone has a saw and sawing my right pelvic on a daily basis and it’s tough. I have IBS too so I don’t think that is helping with the pain.

Hey. I know how you feel regarding the pain. Ive finally had my lap and endo diagnosis after years of pain during periods and the rest. I’ve been out on metafamic acid and tranxanamic acid to take during my periods which combined do help slightly. I find the only thing that helps me is a scalding hot bath, hot water bottle and then the usual painkillers. Also avoiding certain foods around that time kind of ease it. Lots of fruit and veg, no takeaways etc. I also can’t go on any forms of contraception due to allergies so I have to dig a bit deeper to help find some ease. Hope this helps! Xx
Sorry to hear of all the issues you've been having! I'm waiting for a diagnosis atm too. In the same position as you, I've taken so much time off work that I ended up leaving my job about 10 months ago. Hot water bottle and hot baths work well for me. I also take tramadol when the pain is bad but I do worry about dependence etc with it. It can also make you feel really drowsy at first but that wears off and I don't really get any side effects from it anymore. X
