I am in the throws of reading Chris van Tulleken's book Ultra-Processed People. It has been an eye opener. Not that one hasn't been aware of the harms of processed food but perhaps one has been unaware at how extensive it is and also how seemingly malicious for corporate gain? What does come out is

Vitamin A - retinol.
Dr. John Campbell posted a video about how low vitamin A (retinol) levels predispose a person to experience pneumonia from the Mycoplasm pneumoniae which is currently at near epidemic levels among children in northern China. No surprise here to be honest considering the severe lockdowns. Children have

Hi. Probably in t he wrong section but all thoughts welcome. My ferratin is in the 'normal' range but low and dropping, even though I have been taking oral iron spray daily, liquid iron supplement given by my doctor, high iron foods in my diet. Duloxetine - cold turkey and afterwards?
One of my tasks in the New Year (after discussing with GP) was to decrease Duloxetine and possibly try something else as the hyperhidrosis side effects were becoming so problematical for me and, after working well for nigh-on 3 years they also now had reduced effectiveness at controlling my pain despite

Biotin
Hi please can you tell me how much biotin would affect blood test results. I am waiting for a doctors appointment , they have told me it will be between 2 and 4 weeks, but could be sooner. I am currently taking B complex supplement which contains biotin. I know the guideline is don't take for 7 days.

Iron Infusions for RLS
Another research paper showing iron infusions of Ferric Carboxymaltose improves RLS. We now have the uphill battle of convincing our GPs and neurologists. If you are trying to persuade your medical team to follow the Mayo Clinic Algorithm and increase serum ferritin as first line treatment for RLS,

Advice on medication
Over the last couple of weeks I have had pains in my stomach and for longer than that regular bladder problems. Always feeling I need to go to the toilet. I am on 3.5 mg of prednisolone and am wondering if it has anything to do with the other pills I am taking each day. 1 -20 mg omeprazole, 1 - 1000

Thyrozine and co-codamol
I've been taking thyrozine for years and have just been prescribed co-codamol, I was meant to believe that it's not save to take. Has anyone else been prescribed this and taken it?

Co-codamol any good for RLS or PLMD?
I asked my GP for buprenorphine. He gave me co-codamol. Does anyone have any personal experience of this opioid? I'm not in pain, but have PLMD. I'd love to know if anyone has used co-codamol - and how they took it - and what their experience of it has been.

PMR and Pfizer Covid Vaccine
Within 5 days of my husband and I receiving the first Pfizer Covid jab, he started getting pains in his legs and shoulders. He took paracetamol & used Bio Freeze, similar to deep heat. He got progressively worse, a GP diagnosed Frozen Shoulder over the phone, prescribed Co-Codamol & Naproxen. Within

Haemophilus influenzae
I have had an unsuccessfully treated lung infection for a year, with HI(b) being one of the bacteria identified. I have taken five different antibiotics including cotrimoxazole, doxycycline and azithromycin (two of which I've taken two courses of). I have had a lung wash, CT scans, X-rays, I am prescribed

Your thyroid and iron deficiency stories, please
My ferritin is now 7. (Safe levels being 13 and above). Haemoglobin is 114 (Safe levels used to be 120 and above but now all of a sudden are 115. Surely just a coincidence that it’s women who experience lower iron levels, as a rule. Surely). MCHC, transferrin, serum iron etc all out of whack, too

Blood Test for vits (and thyroid)
Hello all. Following advice from SlowDragon, got GP to agree to Vit testing as T3 low and as SlowDragon though they would, they drew blood for Thyroid levels , too! Must say here, too, after GPS lowered my Levo, because I had too many hypo symptoms return, I upped the dose from 175 to 200 as on 200

Making a new start.
You know the situation: it’s five in the morning and there’s no chance of sleep. I can’t be the only person who ends up writing for help because there is nothing else to do while waiting for the dawn. The story so far: initially, like many of you I took Pramipexole, which allowed me to sleep, although

serum iron
While seeing a Dr at Leicester hospital I was asked to have a blood test, it wasn’t a fasting one. I have just had a letter, my serum iron was 12 there is no mention of anything else. The registrar has written “ Low iron can make restless legs worse and therefore I would be grateful if you could investigate

Clarification of blood results
Hi Could anyone give me some clarity on my anaemia test results received today. Test was done by Monitor My Health but no reference ranges included so all components just say "normal" which is very uninformative and irritating. I know from this forum results need to be optimal. Results: Haemoglobin 128g
