8 week bloodtest

After my last bloodtest I reduced my levothyroxine dose to 137.5mcg, i am still supplementing with B Complex, 1 ferrous fumarate iron tablet a day with vit c capsule, 5000iu vitamin D and a magnesium capsule.

These are my latest test results after 8 weeks, i stopped the B complex and iron tablets a week before and no levo for 24 hours and fasted.

TSH 0.01 mU/L 0.30 - 4.20

FT4 21.6 pmol/L 9.0 - 19.0

FT3 5.0 pmol/L 3 - 5.4

B12 645 ng/L 180 - 900

Vit D 105 nmol/L 50 - 250

Folate 9.5 microg/L 3.0 - 20.0

Ferritin 59.3 microg/L 10 - 200

Serum Iron 14.3 micromol/L 11 - 30

Serum Transferrin 2.67 g/L 1.8 - 3.6

Transferrin Sat Index 21% 16 - 50

Any advice is always greatly appreciated 😁

Also meant to add that i've just bought a probiotic to try and help with my stomach issues and wondered when i should take it, does it need to be taken away from any other supplements?

Free T4 (fT4) 21.6 pmol/L (9.0 - 19) 126.0%

Free T3 (fT3) 5 pmol/L (3 - 5.4) 83.3%

How do you feel?

You probably need to drop another 12.5mcgs at an estimate to get your FT4 in range.

Vit D & B12 are good.

Which B complex are you taking as you may need to add a small amount extra. Your folate is a little low.

Ferritin has a little way to go to get it to 90-100. Can't comment on iron.

I'm tired and everything aches 😴

I think my Vit D and B12 have gone down since last test 🤔 i was using thorne basic b but couldn't get it again so now i'm using liposomal vit b complex.

Have you investigated your sex hormone levels / HRT?

catpurple7 profile image
catpurple7 in reply toTiggerMe

No, should i?

TiggerMe profile image

Tired and aches could be levels have dropped too low… so many cross over symptoms with thyroid makes it hard to know the true culprit

Do they do this at the drs or do you have to pay private?

TiggerMe profile image

I don't know if GP's have upped their game (mine weren't much use 4 years ago but things have gained momentum since then) they generally weren't keen to test but happy to hand HRT out, they have only ever tested my testosterone as I'm on it🤷‍♀️

Knowing where you are isn't a bad idea before you start if you are already settled post meno

You can do a private well woman finger prick one... are you peri or post?

catpurple7 profile image

sadly peri 😔

TiggerMe profile image

Still worth doing but I think day 3 is optimal as the most settled part of the cycle?  Hidden is that right? (Witchy is up on these things 😉)

I wish someone had told me about HRT during the 10 heinous years of peri... 😒

in reply toTiggerMe

Yep! Day 3 is the day to test. I think it's mostly due to the fact that everyone knows when day 3 is. We don't all have a day 21! ... Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't! 🤣😭

Having a little too much thyroid hormone can make you tired and everything ache.

Your vit D is still good and B12 over 500, plus you stopped taking it a week before the test. They are fine.

The liposomal B complexes are good.

Has your ferritin or iron numbers gone up since taking the ferrous fumarate?

I think probably iron and a teeny bit too much Levo are your issues.

I think these are from a year ago before i started with the iron tablets

Serum Ferritin 13.3 microg/L 10 - 200

Serum Iron Level 12.3 micromol/L 11 - 30

Serum Transferrin 3.30g/L 1.8 - 3.6

Transferrin Saturation Index 15% 16 - 50

Well they have gone up, so keep plugging away at it. Getting thyroid levels right also important.

It just takes so long!

Iron is notoriously slow to raise unfortunately. Are you also eating iron rich foods?

catpurple7 profile image
catpurple7 in reply toJaydee1507

I try but being vegan makes it alot harder 😬

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMeAmbassador in reply tocatpurple7

Ah, heme iron won't appeal to you then 😬

catpurple7 in reply toTiggerMe

I know i couldn't actually eat meat again.... but a capsule 🤔

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMeAmbassador in reply tocatpurple7

No, I don't eat much of it but there are just somethings which are more available to us from animals.... I guess we are more cow than leafy green 🤣

They are pretty inoffensive capsules

😂

I'm guessing the 3 month supply would be the way to go?

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMeAmbassador in reply tocatpurple7

It worked out the cheapest as free postage kicks in, can't remember does that thread say to use 'Franklin' to get 10% off? I end up buying 6 as I supply my daughter... they have a long use by 😉

catpurple7 profile image
catpurple7 in reply toTiggerMe

Have you had good results from using it?

TiggerMe profile image
TiggerMeAmbassador in reply tocatpurple7

Yes, working well for me and my daughter... just started Son in Law on them too as he's on the low side (along with low folate, B12 and a TSH of 2.5!) other half due for bloods next week so I'm half expecting him to join in too 😬 I think his issue is B12 but we shall see 🙃

catpurple7 profile image
catpurple7 in reply toTiggerMe

Thats great! 😁 I think i might give them a go 😬
