Hi. Probably in t he wrong section but all thoughts welcome. My ferratin is in the 'normal' range but low and dropping, even though I have been taking oral iron spray daily, liquid iron supplement given by my doctor, high iron foods in my diet. I get days of complete fatigue, other days I can cope but not as much energy as I'm used to. Not sure what next? I suspect iron is not beeing properly absorbed though my stomach because of longterm use of metformin and omeprazole which mitigates against absorption of B12.(I have B12 injections). Maybe affecting iron absorption too. My blood results are not 'bad'enough for an iron infusion. But I am under the weather far too often.

thanks for this information. Very interesting to read about the differences in iron supplements.
It's a bit of a pain that it's only available from America, so far I've only heard of one person who didn't get on with it satrez might be able to give more details...
Heme needs no conversion which makes it more effective 🤗
What were your most recent blood results for thyroid? Have you had FT3 checked? Many need to do this privately. Low thyroid levels will play into low stomach acid and not absorbing nutrients well.
What exactly was your ferritin?
Did you add a B complex yet?
How often are you getting B12 injections now?
I am well medicated with levo. My T3 is high in the range. I have added a B complex, but stopped one week before test. Will resume now. Getting B12 once every eight weeks. My ferratin is 30 ugl (range 11-307)
30 for ferritin is pretty low so no wonder you are having issues. Are you taking your iron with say orange juice or something containing vitamin C which helps it absorb more easily?
You could also try the three arrows heme iron as mentioned by Eeyore100 that people have had success with. What the GP hands out doesn't always work unfortunately.
Did the more frequent B12 injections help at all?
May I be rude enough to high jack this? How much vitamin c to go with iron dose?
thanks for your interest. Yes I take liquid iron with a drink made with lemon juice. Difficult to say whether I feel better with more B12. All I know is that I still feel jaded. I still do stuff - walking, swimming - because I know I should, but never full of energy. I reckon it's my iron level. Will speak to my GP.
