PMR and Imuran
I was diagnosed with PMR alittle over 2 years ago. Everytime I try to taper my dosage of prednisone, my inflammation levels increase. My Rheumy wants to add Imuran to help the inflammation and to wean me off prednisone, Has anyone here taken Imuran? Side effects?

Does anyone take vitamin/food supplements?
I am always reading bits here and there about the benefits of certain vitamin/food supplements. Does anyone incorporate such supplements into their diet or are they to be avoided as they can aid the immunity (thus having the potential to counter the job of the immune suppressants we all have to take)

Seafood: Keeping It Healthy & Safe

vitamin B complex
I am a vegetarian and I take a vitamin B complex every day and also sevenseas "active" omega 3 fish oil for my joints, but I guess it should benefit more than that. I avoid taking cod liver oil as a doctor once told me it was high in cholesterol, which surprised and concerned me as it is so widely

Just wanted to let you know there is hope.
Hi, I posted earlier this year to let you all know not to give up on your wellness journey. I have seen my specialist again and they were amazed at how well I was doing. I'm now on 75mg of T4 and still 20mg of T3 as 100mg T4 was too high. But the best thing is I have lost loads of weight! I agree with

Hi everyone, this is my first post. I've been on 50mg levo for nearly 6 months and feeling a bit better but still have plenty of symptoms so hoping for endo referral. But my gp has been highly dismissive as my tsh is now 'normal', they didn't even retest my anti bodies which were over 900 last October

Diet and arthritis
Omega-3 fatty acids, which are found in oily fish, have been shown to be helpful in people with rheumatoid arthritis and other types of inflammatory arthritis as they may have an anti-inflammatory effect. Are there any foods that you feel help your arthritis?

Do I need to eat organic foods? Entry from Alexandra Rothwell, MPH, RD, CSO, CDN
As an oncology nutritionist, I meet with people throughout the stages of treatment, recovery, and survivorship. The relationship between food and cancer is an ever-developing and popular field, and because of this, the people I meet with tend to have many questions. The following are a few of the most

Secret to my recovery
I want to share the secret to my recovery. For the last 20 months I have been taking an Omega 3 to support the myelin sheath function (increases speed of neuron impulses). I have also been taking a mushroom blend, the legal kind, which has supported my brain injury recovery. I have been taking AHCC

Start all over again
well it is just after 8pm here in Oz and I just had a call from rheumatology to say stop taking imuran as my liver test came back and they have gone from 240 to 860 in the last few weeks. So now the good news is I have to start the three month wait again to be eligible for biologics on something new.

Don't cut the fat
It is a misconception when looking to shed those pounds that fat is the enemy. We often see the products on our supermarket shelves labelled low fat; yoghurts, drinks, ready meals etc. Often these low fat options are high in carbohydrates, as a guide you should also look at the number of grams of carbohydrate

Krill oil for arthralgia
My 20 yr old daughter is about to be put on Methotrexate. However a friend of mine recommended taking Krill oil for arthritis (although my daughter only has acute pain, no swelling) which might stop the need for a drug change. Has anyone else done this and are there any side effects? She already takes

Fish oil
I've just been reading the label on my almost empty bottle of omega-3 fish oil that the recommended daily dose is 4 - 6 capsules. Have only been taking one daily! Am seriously wondering whether to bother replacing it although it's supposed to be an essential. Thoughts?
