Is the coil known to be more effective than the pill?
Hi all, I am a bit confused and wondered if anyone has had the same experience? Why is the Mirena pushed over the pill? My gynaecologist has put me on the Mirena coil that I’ve had now for about 4 months. I am not really enjoying it to be honest and have been having quite a sore stomach and I feel

6 weeks of heavy bleeding
I’m at a bit of a state at the minute and any suggestions are welcome. Long story short year ago came off everything to give my body a break stopped Zoladex Mirena coil came out. Great until 6 weeks ago pain is back worse and heavy bleeding so bad I’m doubling up on protection and having to change in

Did your period stop with the Mirena coil?
I've had mine for nearly 7 months and while it has certainly helped with my excessively heavy periods, it hasn't stopped them. I'm disappointed as I don't see any point in feeling rubbish every month, and am still hopeful they'll stop altogether. Does it normally take a bit longer than this?

Hair loss from medication! HELP
I have Severe Endometriosis and was on Visanne for 10 months. It caused me to gain a bunch of weight and gave me hair loss/hair thinning/hair stopped growing. I've been off Visanne for about 4 months and my hair still hasn't recovered! I swear I'm losing more hair and I am desperate for any help or tips

Another Mirena question... Looking for reasurrance 🙄
A little update... Surgery planned for this thursday, notes issue sorted and no cancellation letter yet 🤞 Some of you know that I didn't get on too well with the mirena coil - fitted in January and then had a partial expulsion - removed 13th May. Had the most horrendous amount of bleeding afterwards

Mirena IUD levonorgestrel levels after 6 years?
Hi there, I decided to have the Mirena IUD fitted 6 years ago for the treatment of Endio and will now need this replaced. Does anyone know how the hormonal side of the Mirena works in terms of longevity. ie Should I expect any side effects when this is replaced as the level of levonorgestrel has lessened

Weight gain & treatments
Has anyone else gained weight on decapeptyl (triptorelin) injection or pregabalin or mirena coil? I’ve ballooned from size 10 to size 14/16 since my last operation and gained about 3-4 stones!! I’ve never ever had to worry about my weight and know that being inactive due to daily pain doesn’t help but

Cancelled operation and discharged for Gynecologist
Hi lovely endo team, Last week I had a phone call from my Gynecologist saying that I was being discharged and my operation cancelled. I was due to have a laparoscopy in July to fully diagnose what is currently "suspected endometriosis". Therefore I have been discharged without a diagnosis. I have a mirena

Help or advice on monthly sickness
I was diagnosed when I had surgery in December when they put in the mirena coil and while my abdominal pain is better, every month I get at least 2/3 days where I feel so unwell and drained that I can’t get out of bed or do anything. I also have fibromyalgia and insterstitial cystitis. Has anyone had

How long does Prostap take to work?
Hi everyone I have been diagnosed with endo and adenomyosis. I had my second lap in December to remove endo and it was also discovered that by bowel and ovary were stuck together. My surgeon said this would have been the causing of my constant pain on my lower left side and be separated them in the surgery

Working as a teacher and isolating and update.
Hi all! What a strange and frightening time it really is. I’ve been cocooned inside my house for so long that this morning we have a face to face training day (🤦🏻♀️) at school and I’ve turned up a whole hour early. It’s odd just sitting in the car park and I can see into my old classroom, really

30+ years of worsening dysmenorrhea
Hi, I'm going to apologise in advance for the long one, but I guess I want to vent and see if anybody has experienced the same symptoms but had different treatment offered, or even a diagnosis? I half wonder if it's adenomyosis but until now just think it's "one of those things". What are my rights as

What now?
I had my laparoscopy in Decmeber where they removed endo from my ovary and bladder, they confirmed it was stage 2 and that he had removed everything he found. I also had a mirena coil fitted. It's now been 7 months and my pain is the same if not worse. I've stopped bleeding mostly which is good but I'm

Help!
I got a lap in September 2019 which confirmed endo on my ovaries, pelvic side walls and both sides of my bowel with some lesions. My surgeon excised most of the endo, except for some on my left ovary which she burned using diathermy. I also got the mirena put in. After surgery, I had no pain and I was

Is my endo back?
I was finally diagnosed when I had a laparoscopy back in May of 2018, they said they successfully removed all that was there and they put in a Mirena coil as treatment and I was under the impression that, since I had such a mild case, I would be fine. Since last summer I've been having random pain on

IUD mirena coil vs jaydess
Hey :) I've just got an appointment booked in to have a coil fitted, but the lady on the phone mentioned the jaydess coil which I've never heard of. She said it's smaller compared to the mirena and has less hormones in it. I'm not too fussed about the length of time it works for, just the amount of
