Fostair causing coughing?
I have been diagnosed with asthma, either atopic asthma or non-asmatic allergic bronchitis in February of last year, had one appointment and now followed by a consultant vis phone appointments. I was on Clenil 100, 2 puffs 2x a day, and having sore throat, hoarse voice, etc. After a trial of montelukast

TAT’s chicken tikka
My first attempt at making TAT’s LCHF chicken tikka, served with salad leaves and raita. My husband liked it so much he’s asked for it again tomorrow. Result! For the first time he’s had my food without additional carbs for him. Baby steps 😉

Covid vaccine
So today I was booked in to have my Covid vaccine- I’m CEV frontline NHS worker currently shielding. I swear my lungs knew that something important was happening, so perfectly timed they decided they need some attention! My peak flow was slowly heading in a downwards trend, and I woke up Thursday morning

When do I... 🤔🤔
Hi everyone. Another (hopefully quick) infomercial post, to (hopefully) clear up any uncertainties people have about when the should be doing certain things. So without further ado; WHEN DO I TAKE MY RELIEVER? When you’re symptomatic 😉. If you’re in a coughing fit (that feels asthma-ry), wheezing,

Veggie mince with cauliflower rice
Tonight’s tea: Quorn mince with veg (onions, garlic, courgette, peppers, tinned tomatoes) plus tomato purée, pesto, chipotle paste. Cauliflower rice and home-made Greek yogurt accompanied it. Delicious, filling and pretty low carb, healthy fats 🍂

Time Restricted eating, running and weight loss
I need to shift a few pounds, well more than a few, and am trying to do the time restricted eating, low carb diet. Only been doing for a couple of weeks but playing havoc with my running. Just too tired but still go three or four times a week but now so slow I wonder if it is worth it. Any suggestions

Hi everyone, In December 19 I got a virus (I wasn't tested as wasn't supposed to be here then, but suspect it was covid) I was incredibly up and down between then and Feb 20. During the time I was poorly I just felt awful heart racing , dizzy , flu symptoms, brain fog and of course my asthma which

"Water weight"
Hope you guys following Lytham's Challenge are all still full of beans (in moderation, of course :) ). I noticed that some of you who started early, and are now approaching week 3, are enthused by some quite impressive initial weight loss. While it's great to see that downwards movement on the scales

Beginner
Hi all - need to try something else and am hoping I find something that I can finally stick with. Been to WW and Slimming World in the past but I always end up stopping after a few months and putting more weight back on. Am 55 this week and need some to get myself healthy! I’ve probably had weight issues

"High-Fat" or "Healthy-Fat"
It's often said on HU that this approach should be called "Healthy-Fat". Though the fats we eat should be healthy, I think "Low-Carb High-Fat" is the right name. A name doesn't need to explain every tiny aspect of the plan, just enough to show what it is. Once you cut the carbs, you either go low calorie

Asthma control post covid - are my expectations unrealistic?
I had covid in march. My previously well controlled asthma isn't anymore. I am currently on fostair 2 X 200 am and pm, braltus, montelukast, cetirazine, dymista and ventolin. I've had 4 short courses of pred since April and am now on a one month reducing course. I was referred to the local hospital

First week of LCHF completed
As I have written before, I couldn’t imagine a meal without carbs. We always had bread /pasta/rice or potatoes with every meal. A month ago I started the 12 week NHS diet and for first few weeks did really well and then it slowed to 1lb loss which demoralised me. Last Monday I accepted Lytham’s challenge

Asthma advice
Hi I had coronavirus mid October and subsequently had issues with my asthma - tight chest, breathlessness, a weird ruttle / flutter when I breathe. I've had my medication changed to 1 x fostair 100 in the morning and montelukast in the evening to clear the cough/mucus. My peak flow is still around 350

Covid and o2 sats
Tested positive for covid. Not been too good but I think I might be over the worst. We shall see. Cant get my oxygen sat levels above 92 but dont feel wheezy. But chest is heavy. Peak flow well down too, usually 400 now 284 or there about. Should I be talking to dr again. On oral steroids for one more

How to safely drink fluids with Ascites
Hello, I have a dear loved one with Ascites and he asked me to post a question to others about their experiences with drinking fluids such as water, juices, electrolyte solutions, etc. Since he has to follow a low sodium diet and restrict fluid intake, can anyone share what kinds of fluids they drink

new link for LCHF guide
A few people had trouble with the filebin repository (and it's probably expired now). I've put another copy on Dropbox. Download from: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fdd3njer5jovvw2/slim_book%20v3.pdf?dl=1 or view online: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fdd3njer5jovvw2/slim_book%20v3.pdf?dl=0

NASH Fibrosis Stage 3
I had my Liver biopsy 2 weeks ago and my Liver # is a 2, they say it has to be at least a 4 in order that I would qualify for their clinical trials at IU Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana So this is good thing because some of my testing showed I had cirrhosis. So I have been told to stay on my
