Hi all - need to try something else and am hoping I find something that I can finally stick with. Been to WW and Slimming World in the past but I always end up stopping after a few months and putting more weight back on. Am 55 this week and need some to get myself healthy! I’ve probably had weight issues since the age of 18. Currently I’m 13 st 1 lb and only 5.4 tall and so many clothes in my wardrobe I can’t wear- some still with labels on and never worn 🙄. One of my biggest downfalls are weekends as I enjoy bottled beer n with that comes nibbles. Apart from occasional lower back problems and a crunchy knee I do okay - I walk my dog every morning before work and am usually busy with housework and cooking on a weekend. Well think I’ve pretty much put myself out there now.
I see a lot of post about LCHF - please could someone point me in the right direction for the details/plan. Most grateful 😊
Do you all do calorie counting or choose your own plan n just post on here? Can’t find any details but maybe not looking in the right place !
Ps. Despite my profile name I’m a female!

Welcome to this amazing forum. I suggest you spend some time clicking about to find your way around. It's easier if you have a lap-top as there are several threads. If you’re using another device I strongly suggest that you use the web page as opposed to the app at least until you know your way around.
Here everyone follows their own plan here's a link you may find interesting.
I strongly suggest you read and contribute to the Daily Diary and participate in a Weekly Weigh in.
You will find there's loads of tips about better eating, from other members. Sharing your daily menu not only helps you stay committed, it can help other members too.
If you can't find anything, just shout. There's always someone about.
Welcome to the forum As TheTabbyCat has said our members follow all sorts of eating plans but I see you have shown interest in the LCHF way of eating, here is some information to get you started
Have a read and see what you think. The guide is encouraging you to make changes and keep carbs low. If you are not ready to throw yourself straight in, you could start by making sure that one meal a day doesn't contain carbs, such as bread, pasta, rice or potatoes and then build up to reducing carbs in all other meals and steering away from sugars.
As well as reading the above, I would recommend the you have a look at DietDoctor. LCHF is also explained there and you will find plenty of infographics that will help you to learn which are the best and worst carbs to eat.
Joining in with the Daily Diary would be very useful, people their post their menu's each day and you will find people following LCHF there who will be able to give you tips about how to replace the white carbs
I hope you will find this information useful and if you have any questions don't hesitate to come back and ask
You don't need to do anything but read the following and join in and chat with us and tell us about your experience with LCHF A lot of us are following that plan
If you haven't already, please take the time to read the Welcome Newbie post, this will help you to navigate the forum, which is best done using the full website and not the app.
Please also take a look at all of the Challenges, Clubs and Events that we have, to help to keep you motivated and engaged with the forum.
The above link will take you to all the information you need. Participation is key to success and I would recommend that you at least join the Daily Diary and a Weigh In day of your choice.
As a peer to peer support group, we all benefit from encouragement and support from one another, so look forward to seeing you join in around the forum
If you haven’t already taken it, here is a link to a tour of the forum,
Dear Charliebarley, if it wasn't for the age difference you and I might have been separated at birth and I'm so pleased for you that you've arrived here and are already thinking about LCHF. If you hadn't I'd bet in another few years of low fat dieting you'd add another stone like I did. It takes a while to realise that fat in food is not the enemy, but sugar and carbs. I first switched from calorie counting etc after seeing a video by Dr Robert Lustig "The Skinny on Obesity" episode 3 (the others in the series are good too). The starter plan guide that TheAwfulToad has pointed you to is excellent. Good luck, start enjoying eating real food and see the weight fall off as well.
Welcome Charliebarley, we are just about the same age - I was 55 last week of September and not far off the same weight I am just over 11 stones so you are not alone trying to battle with your waistline and penchant for beer and snacks (also my downfall) stick with the forum if you can, reading it when you feel tempted to snack is great for moving you away from the crisps and nuts!
My mantra is you will feel it in 2 weeks, see it in four weeks and hear it in 6 weeks! Get that first two weeks under your belt and you are away.
