Carbs and inflammation
I had been weirdly regretful that I wasn't suffering from inflammation previously, so I wasn't able to rejoice in it going away with low carb. I have eaten very carby meals on about 4 occasions in the last 18 months, with no apparent side effects. Until last night, when I was sat in front of a plate

Pancreas-friendly Recipes
For many patients, it is difficult to find recipes that comply with a low-fat diet and serve individual needs at the same time. Nutrition plays a key role in managing pancreatitis, and exchanging experiences can be very valuable to others. Do you know some pancreas-friendly recipes you want to share

Call asthma doctor? She doesn’t help much. Long term prednisone.
It seems like the fall often bothers my asthma. I was hospitalized in fall 2019 for 6 days for severe asthma exacerbation. Then COVID started. I’ve been on oral prednisone since fall 2019. I’m on daily 25 mg. My doctor is trying to lower the pred. She says it’s not doing anything now my body is just

Diet - my story so far!
When diagnosed with PMR...within 2 months I was diagnosed prediabetic. I was already overweight from steroids for lung issues a few years ago, and hadn't been able to shift the excess. I went onto the keto diet, while on 15mg steroids. I lost a stone in 7 weeks but as soon as I stopped it it went back

Low carb road in the hole (2)
Just tried subtle badger's idea for toad in the hole as Yorkshire puddings instead. Doubled the quantities and cooked in muffin tins. Made 6 (very) large ones. Surprisingly delicious and felt like a real treat for Sunday dinner. Give them a go!

Insulin and prednisolone problems
How do I manage my blood sugars on Prednisolone at 15 mg per day. I am a type 2 diabetic on insulin injections 4 times a day, plus Metformin 2 gms. My blood sugar levels are astronomical in spite of a low carb diet and exercise. Prior to my PMR diagnosis 7 months ago I was attending my gym 3 times per

Hello there, I still have not had a diagnosis for my bronchiectasis like symptoms; my chest x-rays showed scarring in march, but are now all clear now. Since my last serious chest infection earlier this year I have been perfectly healthy, active, cough and asthma free, only taking Fostair 100/6 four

New here and very anxious!
Hi, my name is Saba, I’m 39 and have been diagnosed with celiac disease just a week ago. I’m very hypochondriac person and get my check ups every 6 months. In February I’ve noticed that my ferritin level dropped a lot, I thought maybe it was cause by diet I was on to lose weight. Then in my July’s check

Blood results help
I have had hashimotos now for 8 years. I developed it post partum and was positive for TPO antibodies. Labs previously tested have only ever been TSH and T4, only TPO antibodies at initial diagnosis, have never looked at T3 or antibodies again. Anyway generally feel ok but weight loss still a problem

Weird feeling in toes and wobbly walking
This last year of the pandemic I’ve not addressed some things I should have what with the many difficulties. Things have piled up and I’m trying to sort them out one a a time. One thing is this issue with my toes. When I flex them it feels sort of strange, like they are “crunching”. Seems

Reconsideration of peak flow as asthma deterioration measurement
I think doctor should reconsider the peak flow device as main effective method for asthma diagnosis, I think such device is only helpful in patients with non inflammatory asthma like COPD or lung fibrosis, I remember when I was 15 I had lost consciousness due to severe asthma flare up, and I remember

Hypothyroidism diet
Can anyone tell me if there is a specific weight loss diet to help lose weight when you have hypothyroidism? I am going to get bloods etc done but have been struggling with an extra couple of stone and been oh Thyroxine for 30 years. I have recently bought books etc but they seem to contradict each other

IBS, headaches and diabetes
Hi I have been suffering with headaches for awhile now and it seems to be linked to whenever I eat sweet foods. I stopped eating sweet foods last week and headaches went away. I wondered if this is a sign of diabetes? I struggle to eat a healthy diet as most healthy foods flare up IBS D. I wanted to

Low carb rebel (inspired by Rosina1871's question of yesterday)
This was originally going to be a response to Rosina1871, but I then decided to make it a separate post as I would like to see other people's comments on my own experience. I too understood that 'a low carb diet is necessary when on steroids to avoid weight gain', so for a time I diligently followed

Naive question
I know that a low carb diet is necessary when on steroids to avoid weight gain, but does the different dosage of steroids influence the amount of carbs you can eat? Ie if you are on 30mg are any carbs more likely to give weight gain than say if you are only on 5mg. Sorry if I haven’t worded that too

Coughing Fits
Hello I'm in a bit of unchartered territory at the moment so would really appreciate some advice from fellow sufferers who may have more experience dealing with it. I was diagnosed with asthma as a baby and had it throughout childhood. When I reached my teens it vastly improved to the point I didn't
