I have ongoing thyroid issue - underactive and has never been sorted in 12yrs - I am ok for 4/6 weeks and then my levels rise - approx may/ April this my tsh hit a high of 86 . My meds were increased to 150mg tested again in July tsh was 43 (0.4-5.5) T4 11 ( 11.0-26.0) meds increased to 175mg tested again in Oct tsh 12.8 (0.4-5.5) T4 11.9 ( 11.0-26.0), triodothyronine 3.1 (3.6-6.0) meds put upto 200mg- I cannot lose weight and have chronic depression - I follow all advice given on the site increased my vit d and tried a gluten free diet - it didn’t make any difference. Had coeliac test twice and both times normal - endo keeps telling me I must not be taking medication as results can’t be right - any help or suggestions would be appreciated- losing the will

Which brand of levothyroxine are you currently taking

Have you tried lactose free diet and lactose free levothyroxine

Liquid levothyroxine is often better absorbed especially if lactose intolerant

How much approx do you weigh?

Results show you are under medicated and need 25mcg dose increase in levothyroxine

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose increase

Essential to regularly retest vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

EXACTLY what vitamin supplements are you currently taking

Essential to take levothyroxine on empty stomach and then nothing apart from water for at least an hour after

No other medications or supplements within 2 hours.

Ranges Results

CRP-0-5.00 4.6

Ferritin 13-150 152

FT4-12-22 18.5

T4-59-154 84.5

TSH-0.27-4.20 2.96

FT3-3.10-6.80 4.08

TGAB-0-115.000 435.000

TPOAB-0-34.00 127

Vitamin D 50-200 39.9

Folate 2.91-50 8.36

B12- 140-720. 241

Results from 3 years ago......can’t see any more recent vitamin results

Vitamin D, folate and B12 all far too low.

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking. When were these last tested

High antibodies confirms autoimmune thyroid disease.

SlowDragon ,

I noticed these results below for Merw from 2 yrs ago ... on 125mcg Levo +10mcg T3

(The ones you found from 3 yrs ago are when on 162.5 Levo, with No T3)

Nov 2018

TSH 5.97 0.27-4,2

Free thyroxine 14.8 12-22

T3 4.47 3.10-6.80

Thyroglobulin antibody 256. 0-115

Thyroid peroxidase. 91.8. 0-34

Vit b 75.1 37.6-188

Folate 8.14 3.89- 26.80

Crp 3.98 0-5.00

Ferritin 147 13-150.00

Hi Merw, What happened to lead to your very high TSH of 86 in april /may this year ?

Does that coincide with you stopping taking T3 ?

What was the reason for stopping it ?

Hi I haven’t had any more results only the ones I listed -my doctor doesn’t test for those and I think I paid privately for the full results - I take viridian thyroid complex but nothing else as I was told that this had all the vitamins and minerals I needed . My weight is currently 17st 10lb, I have been told to take my medication at night on an empty stomach - I have always taken my medication with water and have taken nothing else for the hour after - taking the medication at night has caused acid and I have an upset stomach nearly every day since switching to the evening - I am due to book more blood tests this next week or two and then have an appointment after with the endocrinologist
