Fibroccan vs MRI scan of liver
Hello I've had an MRI small bowel scan which reported that I have hepatic steatosis. What does a Fibroscan of the liver pick up that an MRI scan does not?

HU and prefibrotic myelofibrosis
Recently diagnosed first with ET. put on 500mg hydroxyurea daily with platelets at 617. After bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, diagnosis changed to prefibrotic myelofibrosis. HU had brought platelets down to 270 but I suffered from bad side effects. Dr didn’t want to change med or dosage. I resisted

cirrhosis and symptoms
My husband has been monitored for liver problems for the last few years. He is a very heavy drinker and has been for a long time. I have been with him for 23 years plus. Last year he had an internal bleed though they couldn’t find where it was and was inconclusive. The consultant gastroenterologist

Do you tell friends / family
I was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis 2 weeks ago. Still in shock as caused by taking azaphoprine for my ulcerative colitis. Anyway, I haven’t told many people only close friends and no one from work. Then, my partner told his mate down the pub, now I feel really upset and can’t believe he told someone

abdominal ultrasound scan results received
hi everyone, I understand this post is outside of all thing colon and bowel related. However, I’ve been asked to let proole know about my results. Plus, there doesn’t seem to be a hub for abdominal, renal and other related issues. I finally had my scan on 27th April. The results haven’t appeared on

Start of my Stem Cell Journey 0.3
Well, where do I start. The transplant team wanted to increase my Rux to 10 mgs which has been really good for me. So much energy hardly any symptoms and overall feeling better. The fly in the ointment is my blood levels are dropping red cells were 80 and my platelets were in the 30’s. My Haematologist

Is it common to get chronic nose bleeds with aps?
Just wondering as my father has been getting nose bleeds constantly lately. They've tried to cauterize (no joy) they've put a camera up the nose to try and see where it's coming from can't see anything with camera. Last year his artery's were blocked so he needed stents as it caused a heart attack. I'm

I did it. 40 days
yay. I’m not alcohol dependent. I won’t know until Thursday if there’s any weight loss. I suspect not, as I love sweets. But after next weekend and my daughters 40th little do, I’m going to try another challenge of ‘no sweets’. Oh dear that will be hard. But I thought the alcohol was impossible and

Consultant Appointment
Hi my husband was diagnosed with decompensated cirrhosis at the end of 2021. His last consultant appointment was the beginning of 2022. He finally has a consultant appointment this week. I'm compiling a list of questions to ask at his appointment as I feel as though we are in the dark with regards

Is it getting better?
9months ago I had Alt 90, normal ast, high bilirubin, low albumin and low protein, I stopped drinking immediately, worked on my diet to the best of my ability, drink coffee everyday and I exercise every morning.... The doctor never did further tests but since then I’ve been using milk thistle, dandelion

Doc says: "Cirrhosis? Yes. Food restrictions? No." So confused. Advice?
I have cirrhosis. Surgeon saw it in CT scan & really saw it during hernia surgery so no doubt about it. But Liver function normal at this point say tests. I want to find out the underlying cause so it can be addressed. I do not want to inadvertently cause any more damage to my liver with inattentive
