Have been unwell for past 18 months with fatigue, weight loss, anemia, joint and muscle pain. For the past 8 months I have had headaches,
blurry vision, jaw/nose/facial pain. Was on high dose pred, now on 10mg pred and just increased MTX to 25mg. I don't have a diagnosis other than " something auto immune ". My ESR and CRP are moderately raised, ANCA is negative. I have attended the vasculitis clinic in Aberdeen once. I was told there

Elevated cholesterol but no signs of inflammation?
I have closely followed all the debates about statins, and sugar vs. saturated fat, and am a believer that the pharmaceutical industry has vastly overplayed the benefits of statins. I have been on statins for the past eight years, but decided to give myself a break from them, and came off them for seven

Have been on and off Prednisolone since last February but am also recovering from Mumps and started Methotrexate on Monday. Feel terrible.
Face is totally swollen, eyes have hoods, glands are still swollen from Mumps ( had a scan yesterday to confirm this) am exhausted, dizzy at times, have headaches, have developed mouth ulcers today and keep having to lie down. Have also been wheezy this week but this has improved over the last couple

Nurse.
Hi all I'm playing Nurse again. This time for my Husbands bad tummy. He was up all night in pain. I spoke to the Hospice at seven this morning and then the Dr later. The Dr came in and made him his first call. It's all down to a narrowing of his bowel which we already know about. There isn't much they

Limbo
It feels like I'm in limbo at the moment. I'm stuck in my flat and living a sort of non-existence at the moment, waiting for the council to finish assessing my housing application so I can be moved and waiting for my GP to find some way of sourcing me a wheelchair that has some sort of stabiliser to

I have been asked to share my story. Make yourself comfy and I will begin .......
In 1988 I went to my G.P. with joint pains which fluctuated around my body. When I booked the appointment I had pain in my neck and shoulders, by the time I saw him it was in my knees and wrists! The pain was put down to my being pregnant (with my second child), hormones etc. - advice, take pain killers

Hi - have very extensive adhesions, following multiple surgeries, and Ovarian Remnant Syndrome. Need advice on pain relief
My pain issue is that my GP seems to be incredibly reluctant to prescribe any opiate-based pain relief, and is constantly on at me about the risk of addiction and trying to get me to reduce my usage, at one point reducing my prescription by 75% and leaving me virtually suicidal with the pain. Yet I have

Hip Bursitis and sciatica do they go hand in hand and are the treatments and physio for these, similar for each ailment ?
Also is there "really" no cure , I am going into my 3rd month & doesn't seem to be getting better or going away , does this indicate that I am stuck with it and therefore will never be pain free again & always dosed up on Co Codamol & feeling nauseous, ... I am seeing a Physio tomorrow, what is it
