Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease, and I think The have Lupus!
Hi everyone, I am new on here, I am 50 years young, and was diagnosed with Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease 2 years ago. I was like most people thinking that I was going mad, had become a hypochondriac, I own a clinic in Melbourne Australia and have 10 GP's at my side, but now things are changing

Autoimmune Disease and Inflammation
Hello all, I am new to this. I have only just been diagnosed with Hughes. I am 61, had a hip replacement and presented with tons of lung clots... I am slowly making peace with the diagnosis, but through that process, I am looking at autoimmune diseases generally and what progress has been made on that

I'm new
Hi folks, I am new and was diagnosed with RA about 8 months ago at the age of 69.I was blindsided by this disease. My hands were so bad, I could barely do anything with them. My feet hurt so bad. I was referred to RA Dr. who gave me little information, but did ex rays, blood test confirming everything

Passed the 18 week guideline!
After passing the 18 week guideline for a hip replacement, I'm hitting brick walls every way I try to get help, and I'm trying to get sent to see a different doctor with a shorter waiting time but apparently this isn't an option for me. Pals, local mp, my doctor have all tried to help but consultant

There's nothing you can do that can't be done.
Hello all. It's been some time since I posted on here, but whether you're just starting out or on week 9 or somewhere beyond, I think I can offer you some positive news that demonstrates just how incredible the human body can be if you just give it a gentle nudge with the C25K programme as I did less

In Denial - my big mistake
I was diagnosed with GCA just before Christmas. I kept my sight, with just some damage to the optic nerve on my left eye, which also has maculopathy and retinopathy (early stages). The high dose prednisolone (80mg) made all my aches and pains go away, but I felt like a zombie by January, with all of

Avascular Necrosis (AV)
I wonder how many people realise that AV is one of common complications of SCD. My son has been complaining about pains in his back, hips and knees for almost 3 years, but it was always put down to sickling in those areas. Only once did one of the consultants he sees suggest he may be Vit D deficient

New here and hoping for advice.
Hi all, If you get to the end of this ramble, well done!! lol, I guess I am just looking for advice, shared experiences and a little support. My history is that I had bi-lateral slipped upper femoral epiphysis as a child. Treated not with pins (the usual treatment these days) but with bone grafts

Hip Replacement
Just a note of warning. My husband has GPA (Wegener's) since Oct 10, diagnosed Nov 11. He's been on Pred starting at 70mg per day, now down to 5mg per day. He's had the Cyclo, Aza, Meth, & Myco, now on Rituximab which seems to be tackling it after 5 years. He's had a triple heart bypass, squamous cell

Sometimes medics are so bl%#dy blasé!
I can't shake off the cross and gloomy feelings that started after I saw the rheumy nurse yesterday morning, so I thought I'd come and let off some steam here... I showed the nurse the rash that's spreading across my lower back, driving me crazy. "Oh, that's the Hydroxychloroquine", she said, "It often

HIV education
I work in a clinic and we have a few HIV+ patients. The medical assistants have had a few issues with needle sticks in the last few years. My boss who knows I am poz has asked if I could do an in-service on HIV education. She said a man with HIV would be the best source of education. Any suggestions

Unemployed
FYI, try to continue to work, I was taken off work 16 years ago. With how I look and my physical condition I am unable to find work. Living on disability really sucks with the cost of everything going up but not my disability payments. I never wanted to stop working but I volunteered for an hiv clinical

Mrs
I had Avascular Necrosis of the hip, and needed a total hip replacement. Now eight months after the op, I now have it in my shoulder and will need surgery. AVN was steroid induced. Four years on PREDNISOLONE on varying doses. Monitoring was poor by Rheumatologist. I feel I should have been warned, especially
