Did all the 'right' things and cholesterol got MUCH worse?!
Last July my total cholesterol was 5.2, LDL 3.9, HDL 1.6, Trigs 0.22. I had been taking Liptor 10mg every other day, but even that small amount was causing unacceptable side-effects (yes, I tried other kinds too), so I stopped. I lost 50lbs, started exercising moderately/intensively for a minimum of

Cholesterol in the NEWS
Two very interesting article in the copy of the daily mail in the health section. Looking at the cost comparison, "Will NHS have the budget for it?" This may not be new but very interesting. Jab cuts cholesterol better than statins and may halve patients' chances of suffering a heart attack and dying

My husband has just returned from his GP with a prescription for statins. He's feeling confused about whether to take them.
My hubby is 62 and a type 2 diabetic 5.6 (on medication) His blood pressure is normal. His weight is perfect for his height. His total cholesterol is 3.2 (he doesn't know the broken down figures). He's never had any heart problems and is in decent health otherwise. The doctor prescribed 20mg of Atorvastatin

No weight loss
I've downloaded the NHS 12 week programme but it says nothing that I haven't been doing myself for months. I eat at or below the recommended calorie intake, I am at the gym a minimum of three days a week doing strength training and have been walking for 30 mins a day. I have no started a c25k to prepare

Carrying a little extra weight decreases mortality from type 2 diabetes
