I saw a consultant recently who wanted me to take Ezetimibe and Rosuvastatin (I had a heart attack 4 yrs ago and two stents inserted in one artery). I refused. I stopped taking Atorvastatin (10mg) about a year ago and the powers that be don't like it! Instead, I'm taking 7000mg of Beetroot extract and

Slimming World my last desperate attempt 😔
Well after trying calorie counting with the NHS plan and the LCHF diet and realising that neither of them would suit me long term so they would be just diets and not lifestyle changes and eventually I would have to come off them and get back into that old familiar viscous circle we all know of piling

The KISS Principle.
With the toing and froing of the various regimes presented here there is one unassailable fact. If you are a type 2 diabetic it is because of your diet and lifestyle, and unless you identify and eliminate the foods that have caused your disease then you are faced with a lifetime of medicines and a deterioration

Is FH as dangerous as we're lead to believe ?
I've posted about this study before, but as there are a fair number of new people on the board, it's worth repeating because it's one of the few studies that attempts to look at what happens in familial hypercholesterolemia without selection for early cardiovascular disease. To explain this simply

Should I take statins when I have familial hypercholesterolemia?
Hello there, I'm not sure how this works as this is my first post but here goes!? I am 40 this year. My father died from a heart attack aged 62 and had cholesterol levels of 12-13. I have inherited this (along with my other siblings) and have cholesterol levels that range from 5-10 (10.2 most recently

Calories & Fat
I need following assistance on "LCHF" diet please: 1. Do you need to worry of total calories for the day?. 2. Considering 20%-20%-60% ratio would it hurt if someday Fat intake is over 60% for the day?. Thanks.

Trouble with anxiety meds today.
They can take up to 3 weeks or even longer to work. Something the sufferer doesn't want to hear at a time when they are having these awful feelings. Diazepam or Valium are fantastic and can work very fast but sadly taking them after a few days or even the next day will not have the same desired effect

High Blood pressure pills
Hi, About a month ago I stopped taking my BP medication - Lisinipril. I've had this Rx for many years but always felt that it made me a bit tired and perhaps contributes to having a hard time falling asleep and headaches. My BP is better after adrenalectomy, but it's not great (avg: 140/100) so I still
