Statins
I would appreciate any comments from you all on the pros and cons of statins. I am 5 years post op, 67 years old and have made a reasonable recovery. I recently had a blood test which showed my healthy cholesterol at 2.51 and my ‘bad’ cholesterol at 4.3. My Q risk is 13.5%. These numbers mean nothing

Feeling great with compression
I have had tremendous success with compression socks. I wear regular compression socks during the day and thigh high compression stockings at night. I also take CBD oil, magnesium and other electrolytes, eat low carb diet, and.0625 mg Mirapex. I just started 100 mg Gabapentin...which I may discontinue

Kidney biopsy AV Fistula
So after I got my kidney biopsy on Monday I ended up with a AV fistula. They went in the groin and put a coil in to just stop the blood flow between the vein and artery. I think it is called a renal embolization. Has anyone else been through this ? How was your pain after? I am on day 4 and I am feeling

LDL paradox
Hi, last September (2018)I went on a plant/fish diet, dropping milk/meat/eggs to try to reduce my cholesterol, which was at that time: - TC: 209 HDL: 54 TG: 71 LDL: 138 Last week, after four months on PF diet, I was expecting TC to drop to about 180, and here's what I got-- LDL went up 20 pts!

Hydrocephalus
I know I’m in the wrong group. Is there a group for those with hydrocephalus? I haven’t had surgery, just MRIs and a lumbar puncture. I have two out of three of the primary symptoms: imbalance and incontinence. So far, no loss of cognitive function. Where should I be? Thanks!

Any Advice/ Experience with a Colonoscopy?
My GP has put me on the 2 week fast track for a colonoscopy, so I had to Uber myself to the hospital for a blood test to check on my kidney function because of the dye they use. I’ve had two endoscopies. Now the lower end of my innards has played up far to much they are being investigated. I know the

Renal function test
Have just been reading some posts and read that if on apixaban that you should have regular tests. So, what is this test? I don't think I've ever had one. I was diagnosed in August 2017. Since then hardly seen anyone about this and certainly don't recall anything like this. I'm feeling let down by

Going round in Circles!
My last TSH was 23.5. Cholesterol 7.8. Finally got referred to an endocrinologist who wasn't a bit concerned at the results but said it could be supplements I was taking interfering with readings. He asked if I was talking statins for cholesterol but I said I was waiting for my thyroid to settle as that

"New" non-statin lipid lowering drug?
In Australia, we don't get much TV advertising for drugs (unlike the US where it is rampant!) - but advertising for a drug called RAYDEL ( Policosanol ) has started. I note that the Company uses the word "may" when promoting it's product (this should always be read as "may - or may not" . This study

TIROSINT or similar T4 with less fillers ...bad reaction
I was recently switched to Euthyrox (Levo) and Tiromel (cytomel T3) from NDT ...and my face is breaking out, my joints are hurting and my period hasn't stopped and its day 13. I switched from NDT (none of these symptoms) to synthetic as the NDT was increasing my antibodies. Are there other T4 meds

How did humans get to the top of the pile?
Thank you everyone who commented on my post around why people chose a low-carb high fat diet, and did they do so after a high-carb low-fat diet. Personally I could debate on just that thread for the next 10 years, and perhaps I will! However it occurs to me a hypothesis following on from that question
