Not sure if related to hypothyroidism
I have been on 100mcg levo for several weeks to keep GP happy. I did tell her I had been breathless with any activity for weeks before I saw her. My husband has been very concerned that there was no improvement and in this symptom and had me contact the surgery on Tuesday morning. I had a call

Drs not taking ferritin seriously
My now retired neurologist was adament on treating my very low ferritin. For reference it was 7. Diet was not working. He gave me an iron infusion (he knew iron pills could have awful side effects). Then he retired & I changed neurologists. I never knew whether my ferritin got back to normal, nor why

My latest labs to follow in a day or two but for now, is anyone willing to interpret a friend’s latest please
I have my thoughts but would rather she saw what the knowledgeable folk on here have to say I’ve been suggesting for some weeks now that she get herself tested and amongst others (full blood count and fasting glucose) here are a few of the results. Unfortunately, at this stage there’s no iron panel studies

Ferrous Sulfate gives me headaches
Hi, sorry if I've posted this in the wrong section as I dont have Thyroid problems. I've recently had a low iron deficiency confirmed and have been told to buy supplements and take them 3x a day. The chemist recommended Ferrous Sulfate 200mg. I have found that after taking just one I get an awful headache

Am I overdoing it on the B12?
I know this question has been asked many times but I am full of doubts. I found out I was b12 deficient last summer, my levels were very low (24 pg/ml) despite taking multivitamins for months. I felt very sick. My main symptoms were extreme fatigue, brain fog, cognitive impairment, eyes twitching and

Have UK ref ranges for ferritin changed?
Hi, I'm sure I read on the forum recently that UK ref ranges for ferritin have changed. Does anyone know if this is true? I can't find the post where it was mentioned so please post a link if anyone finds it or to other UK documents/guidance. Apologies if this is a false memory. I've found it... https

Intrinsic factor test and diagnosis
Hi guys, I'm new to the forum. Basically I've had all of the standard pernicious anaemia symptoms for about 2.5 years now, but not yet 'officially' diagnosed. I had been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, but rest didn't seem to help. 3 weeks or so ago I discovered pernicious anaemia and took

Advice on supplements & iron panel and selenium /zinc tests
Hello is anyone able to interpret my latest iron panel result? I have been supplementing with 150mg of iron bisglycinate and 1 ferrous fumarate tablet daily before this test (stopped 1 week before). With iron of 74% through range is this too high or can I continue? My ferritin result is only 54 (or

B12 levels after loading dose
I have recently had my 5 loading B12 injections for vitamin B12 deficiency. My starting level was 167 and after a blood test after 2 weeks of finishing they were 1227. I am wondering if anyone can tell me if this is normal. I unfortunately have had very little information from my Doctor's so any help

It has been a difficult and quite dramatic 4 months, what with coeliac then AKI. But look at me now.
The Most Important thing I have learnt from this forum is to get hold of your blood results. It has been eye opening.

Active B12 test from Medichecks
Hi, just had my blood test done which came back as 256pmol/L and they recommend I reduce any supplement I am using. Last July it was 39.1 and after trying patches and oral spray I self injected 6 x 1000mcg Hydroxocobalamin spread over 2 weeks starting 3 weeks ago. I feel a lot better, memory has returned

Is this as good as it's going to get? I'm new to this forum and infact it's the first time I've dipped my big toe into such waters.
I woke this morning feeling particuraly horrible which is now the new norm but today I wasn't able to endure another day of just getting through it, so I thought I'd share a bit of me for some of you empathic folk out there. My story begins about 7 years ago when I took myself to the GP feeling extremely

Why constant low iron issues
I need some help understanding why Im constantly having low iron issues. I was taking Iron tabs late last year after testing for low iron but I stopped taking tabs in January and was suppose to retest but I didn’t and last Saturday I “almost” passed out but as quick as that happened it disappeared

Ferritin of 56
I was taking iron tablets for anaemia for a few months, and when I was re-tested recently my ferritin was 56. The GP advised me that I was no longer anaemic and to stop the iron. I am extremely tired and I have diffuse hair loss. I have started taking a maintenance dose of ferrous sulphate again and

How long from your first injection did you start to feel better?
Hi, I just started getting B12 injections 1 month ago. I still feel really tired and fatigued. How long will I need to wait to feel normal again? I have a cyanocobalamin 1,000 mcg injection daily.

Can you have anemia with normal CBC?
I have low b12 but normal CBC and Hemoglobin. Iron levels are normal. I'm waiting on the folate test. Does this mean I am not anemic?
