I’ve been on ferrous fumarate tablets since last year three times a day. It has improved my ferritin levels. x

Hi S, did you find out what the cause was?

Mine is caused by pernicious anaemia I have been told as also B12 deficient too so have B12 injections alongside the ferrous fumarate tablets. My rheumy nurse says it is not uncommon with RA and Lupus as is classed as another auto immune condition. x

I had to have a ferritin infusion over 2 days (IV) at the hospital because I couldn't tolerate the tablets. I have chrons disease and they caused chaos with my stomach. Never got to the bottom of why my levels were low - they said possible chronic bleeding from chrons disease or periods (which drove me mad because I had light periods). Good luck with the tablets 😊

Both the tablets and liquid play havoc with my stomach so I had two IV infusions a few weeks ago I'm due a telephone appointment & blood test in 4 weeks to check if I've maintained the ferritin levels. I've no explanation as to why my levels drop, GP says it's a side effect of RA heomotology not convinced so I'm on a waiting game at the moment. I will be interested to see if anyone else on here has anything similar or an explanation. Good luck with the tablets.

HiI’ve been taking ferrous sulphate 20mg 3 x weekly for low deficiency (2),partly due to monthly venesections since 2015.

Does anyone have experience of hepcidin therapy?

This apparently may reduce the need for repeated venesections in low risk PV patients with iron deficiency?

Thankyou
