Newly diagnosed possible Autoimmune gastritis and B12 deficiency
I've recently started B12 injections under the care of a private doctor. He gave my first injection and I'm doing self injections at home (1mg hydroxocobalamin). My B12 was at 292 so a little above the NHS range but clearly deficient. I initially saw him to arrange an iron infusion for iron deficiency

Does everyone with PV have high platelets?
Right now I only have slightly elevated RBC, hematocrit, and hemoglobin but all my other cell counts are normal.

Gastritis and Iron tablets
Following a recent blood test where the following levels were reported-iron 10 umol; ferritin 18ugl; tsr 15.3%; my GP wasn’t keen on giving me iron tablets said they could be “nasty” but didn’t explain the impact they could have on my atrophic gastritis !I am struggling to keep pain free from the latter

Fatigue after b12 injection for PA
I have been diagnosed with PA and received my first b12 (Hydroxocobalamin form) 9 days ago. Folate blood level was low so I've been given 400mcg of folic acid (tablets) per day. My blood cells are normal. Since the injection and starting folic acid tablets, I have been extremely tired all the time.

Low vitamin D
I’ve had blood test which indicates 21.6 level of vit D which is low. Explains a lot of my symptoms. Gp not in today and the others are only fielding vital calls. Should I take a supplement meantime? I’m on 50 level thyrox. Home alone and anxious....

Update
Hi Had a phone call on Friday asking me to contract the surgery, following my over range ferritin results. I've now got to have a TIBC, iron and TSAT blood test. I think I need to be honest with the surgery and say I've was supplementing with iron tablets until recently and this is likely to have caused

Please help! At a loss with my dad's symptoms and GP
Hi all, Just joined this as not sure where else to turn! My Dad is 72 and in November 2020 his bloods showed that he was low in b12 (sorry don't have exact result). At the time I was baffled by this as he was eating eggs daily and ate red meat regularly too. After a quick search I read about PA and

Silly little setbacks!
I've been doing a bit of sleuthing! As a rule I don't look at anything medical on Google, but I have had a sneaky feeling that I know the cause of many of my symptoms which have been confirmed with a blood test. What with having blood transfusions, iron, magnesium and other such things, I deduce low

41 YO bloodwork test results without methyl malonic acid
My friend was seen her GP for weird symptoms she has and the doctor was forgot to ask lab methyl malonic acid test but all other bloodwork was done. Unfortunately she has injected two times hydroxocobalamin so it's not possible to redo bloodwork for methyl malonic acid. She sent to me her bloodwork

Low iron levels
My doctor has advised me that my iron level is on the low side of the normal range. Should I take iron supplements to boost it as my doctor is happy to leave the levels as they are.

Memory problems diagnostic process
I came across an article I thought was interesting and am sharing it here. It's from the Mayo Clinic Proceedings (US, same journal as the Many Faces of Cobalamin Deficiency article. They call the symptoms "forgetfulness" problems, but they seem closely related to the word-finding problems experienced

Time to buy more B12
Up to date info required regarding purchase of B12 ampoules, please. I hate self injecting and normally inject 1mg x 1ml into each arm (so 2mg a week) to get it over with. Used Rotexmedica but can now only find Hervert on Amazon.de. I have read somewhere that Hervert are 1mg x 2ml and this is too much
