Intermittent Fasting and Keto: The Pros and Cons
Intermittent fasting (IF) and ketogenic diets are all the rage now. They both promote fat burning. But how well do these two approaches combine? Ketogenic diets promote fat burning by restricting carbs, which forces you to rely more on dietary fat. IF restricts all calories for a large part of the day

Low T4, Normal T3, on NDT and considering moving back to Levothyroxine. Advice required please.
I am already on a

Free
Diet
. 4. After the bloods test above (and before the results came back) - I immediately went to 4 grains of NDT, and starting taking more Vitamin D (in the past I took Vit D booster as I was deficient and it drastically reduced the Brain Fog).

New cook book for low carb diets
Having many side effects from prednisolone I was told I am now pre diabetic so have been trying hard to have a low carb no sugar diet. Have found this very monotonous but was delighted to find a new cook book Pinch of Nom 100 slimming style recipies Kate Allison and Kay Featherstone. Do look for it

while discussion about take Light beer for diabetes people Please looks at this picture how much carbs
The numbers are the grams of carbs in one 12 oz. bottle of beer (355 ml). There are huge differences between different brands, but most contain too many carbs to fit a keto diet. Even on a more liberal low-carb diet it might be wise to keep beer drinking as an occasional thing.

Hip pain
We agreed I should go away, monitor it, try and keep on an anti inflammatory
diet
- I was already
gluten

and took turmeric daily. It did improve slightly. Then for some reason I stopped taking my multi vit & Vit D. I donāt know why and I canāt believe I did but hey ho.

Diabetes
I realise this is the weight-loss forum, but diabetes and obesity are inextricably linked, and we seem to have had quite a few posts on the subject lately. I was unable to respond to lucigret's tag on a closed thread, so herewith a few thoughts on the subject. 1) Back when my mum was a ward sister,

I found this video about understanding and treating diabetes ...by Dr Jason Fung. https://youtu.be/Gw61ad-wedo It starts with āUnderstanding diabetesā.... but about halfway through he starts talking about

Re: Calories and stalled weight loss
After reading The Toad's post on calories and all your input, I decided to mention a couple people that some of you might be interested in reading/listening to. First is an author Robb Wolf who wrote a book called Wired to Eat. I found out about it via Amy Berger. He presents the theory that everyone

To eat or not to eat?
Interesting stuff came out of my post on calories, particularly from those posters who are near their goal weight but just can't quite get where they want to be. I was pondering on all this, because I'm pretty certain artificial caloric restriction and/or extensive fasting can't be the answer. Yes, it'll

I am rigidity- dominant PD ; My personal experience!
I am rigidity -dominant PD and like other PwPD my main issues arise when imbalances between Acetylcholine and Dopamine and other neurotransmitters occur. I think we are either Dopamine- dominant or Acetylcholine- dominant( my case) PD. ššNote: The DaTSCAN image doesn't belong to me and that's for

Calorie Control

I think this couple may have issues :-)
I think the lady is on a very high carb, no calorie restriction diet. I think the man is on a LCHF diet.

Plateau
Hi. I started LCHF 6 weeks ago. It took a couple of weeks to get to grips with it so Iād say for 4 weeks Iāve stayed within 20g daily net carbs. I lost 6 lb initially but for last 12 days have been hovering between 6-7lb loss but not seeing any more movement. Should I be doing something different now

More confused than ever?
On a brighter note I have started the
gluten

, dairy free
diet
and while it's too early to say if it is making a difference with the fibromyalgia I have lost 4 pounds! Bonus.

ICD Confusion
My husband had a STEMI in August 2018. Unfortunately, he delayed treatment for 8 hours, thinking he was suffering from food stuck in his throat. He had a stent fitted. His first echocardiogram 4 days later revealed an EF of 39% and damage to the left ventricle wall. After a week stay in hospital where
