Finally a little light!
Many of you have been kind in giving me advice and support over the last year, especially when I was 'wading through treacle'. A few weeks ago I had another steroid injection and leflunomide added to my MTX. I hardly dare say this but I'm actually starting to feel better. My joints have gone down so

Pes Anserine Bursitis - steroid injection offered.
On Thursday I had an appointment with a rheumatologist who had previously been quite impatient and dismissive of me. I made up my mind to give him the briefest details of my woes over the last 9 months. (This is a 6 monthly appointment 😂). He was happy for me to continue with my slow tapering and then

AF and AI
I have been playing with an Artificial Intelligence (AI) program called ChatGPT (on the openai platform). It gives answers in plain English. For instance I asked it "how effective is pulsed field ablation?" The answer it gave within about 5 secs was: "Pulsed field ablation (PFA) is a relatively new

What is classed as a flare?
Hi, I was diagnosed in November, had a steroid injection and started on MTX, once the steroid started wearing off the pain and swelling in my knees returned straight away but not in my hands, they have been great. Had a load of fluid sucked out of my knee and another steroid injection about 6 weeks ago

My PMR is basically gone, but now I got shingles on my right side of face.
All the drugs I took, take lowers my immune system. No prednisone anymore, but Methotrexate lowers immune response. About 4 days ago, got shingles on my face and forehead. It is super pain, bad pain. Before the shingles, I felt like my eyes were infected, eyes and skin all red and sore. Pain not quite

Speech and Language team in the UK
Just an update on my wife (Jackie, diagnosed since 29th Jan 23) and her PSP path, she had a visit from the Speech and Language therapy team yesterday and it's not good. She's struggling with food, she'd said that food wasn't going down. So they tried her with a sandwich and she couldn't clear it after

Feel like giving up.
For unknown reasons other than we think Rituxumab is not working for you any more my medication was changed to Kevzera (Sarilulmab) in November. The work up checks were done and good to go apart from a Chest X Ray as I hadn't had one for a while. A shadow area was found on my lung with suspected

Bursitis of toes & Steroid Injection
I've had pain from between the second & third toe since last May. It hurts to stand & walk especially barefoot or in shoes. I tend to wear trainers when I can as the base is soft & spongy. I had surgery Oct 22 for severe arthritis in the large toe & at first I feared it had spread. Two trips to GP (

Itching Ears post Microsuction
I paid for ear microsuction at a chemist on September 28th costing £60. The process was quite painful but I was very relieved at the time to have the wax successfully removed. My ears were very compacted and I returned after a week for a follow-up. They said I had a further fall of old black wax from

Chondocalcitis incurable?
At least that's how I think it's spelt. It's a specialised form of RA and I have it in my left knee (along with normal RA in shoulders, elbows, wrists and fingers. It's also called Pseudogout but as the crystals in Chondocalcitis are calcium they can't be dispersed as the uric acid crystals in ordinary

Getting Off of Painkillers
I started seeing a pain management doctor about 4 years ago for severe lower back pain.
