Repeated infection.

Here I am another chest infection. Back on amoxicillin and prednisone. How much longer can I go on. This time as always it's due to covid.

I must have picked up every variant since this wretched virus began. I also have long covid and only one lung. Virtually housebound now. It's only amoxicillin keeping me going. Sorry for the rant. Just want my old life back.

I feel for you. It's the unfortunate case for people with certain types of chronic illness , like fibromyalgia, to have lower immunity or have a hypersensitive nose dive from catching everything going.

You won't be helped by also having your lung condition.

Are you having your annual flu and COVID vaccinations if you are allowed them ?

I think they have been the only thing preventing me from having months in bed or trips to AandE every winter.

I know some poor souls still catch it even with vaccination but at least it helps give them some protection from getting the most severe cases that could impact on already ravaged lungs.

I've been lucky enough not to have had COVID ( long may it continue) , although I paid the price for that as I was one of the seriously at risk category whom had to Self Isolate for over a year.

I did get awful cases of the flu which eventually had me on a nebuliser and caused months of the flu version of long COVID every year getting everything because of the compromised immunity it caused from UTis to fungal overgrowth and infected toes. If it wasn't for the use of months of antibiotics, antivirals , antifungals and one heck of a lot of mental health self care to cope with it all goodness knows if I'd be here now.

It was such a relief when I was found eligible to vaccinate early and my whole winter didn't just become one long fight with diseases.

So I empathize with you so much.

Feel thankful , if you can that you've got the medications and care out there that will help you get through it.

Rest. Keep Hydrated , Eat a light nutritious diet if you can manage it and if you aren't managing to get enough food consider supplements or protein and vitamin nutrient drinks or smoothies to give the body enough fuel to help you to heal. Breath, try COVID breathing exercises( on YouTube ) and some light movements to help clear your lungs and do anything you can to keep positive.

Looking after yourself can feel like a thankless task and a full time job, sometimes you can get to feel so low that you don't think there's ever going to be a chance of you winning. But it's still worth it , take care , Bee

Are you on your surgery vaccination list? You should be getting a notification about now if you are for the winter appointment.

At 73 with a lung health problem should be in a priority position on the list.

Ring your GP surgery and ask them when your appointments for the vaccinations are.

If they've not sorted it out yet check that you are on the list and remind them of your health issues.

Not what you're looking for?
