Has anyone found an alternative to NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs)
I am in difficulties with NSAID's I cannot live without them, the pain is too great and taking a combination of three different pain killers only takes the 'edge' off. The latest prescription resulted in internal bleeding and the gp said to take more pain killers (which don't work). Without the anti-inflammatories

Possibly eliminate wheat from diet ?
Wondering what GCA, PMR survivors think of this ? Hi Group, A new site a friend has recommended seems to conclude that wheat may well contribute to autoimmune conditions. Since both GCA and PMR are autoimmune, it would seem a good idea to try to reduce or eliminate wheat from the diet, for those that

Chicken pox and shingles!
My grandson has just developed chicken pox today. I was last in contact with him 3 days ago. Am I at risk of getting shingles and should I stay away from him until he is no longer contagious? I am on Methotrexate and Sulfasalazine.

New here and in tears of agony
Hi all, I have suffered for many many years with my periods. Long story short, the past few months have become unbearable with codeine and naproxen not touching the pain. Two weeks ago, I had a Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy which confirmed severe Stage 4 endometriosis and the presence of two large endometriomas

Boy Did Reg Dwight Get it Right......... (More musings from your grumpy old Viral Meningitis and Half Ironman Triathlon Survivor)
when he sang 'it's sad, it's sad, it's a sad sad situation', yes its that time of year again when the Lumie bright light comes out and I try to stave off the attacks of being an even more grumpy old man than usual. Mind you if our Reg (or Elton John as he prefers now) thinks sorry is the hardest word

Todays the day I get a translation of a hospital letter
I had a letter from the hospital that says "Tests showed significant CD4 lymphopenia (165 cells/microl - 320 -1500) negative HIV serology and raised neutrophil numbers" Well that really helped and explained it all !!! So this morning my GP is going to translate it into 'Patient English' . I try to
