Has anyone else developed severe migraine since having meningitis?
I was seriously ill and hospitalised with Meningio-Encephalitis in August 2011. Over the past two years I have been experiencing regular 'episodes' that knock me out for 3-4 days at a time: extreme weakness, light and sound sensitivity, headaches, disorientation, no concentration, loss of balance, loss

New info about aspirin preventing spread of cancer
Hi all. Got one of my regular emails from Cancer Research UK to members, which referred to a recent Daily Express article. http://www.express.co.uk/news/health/433469/Aspirin-could-help-immune-system-detect-and-kill-bowel-cancer This article shows that aspirin can prevent spread in certain patients

Taking Levothyroxine and Aspirin or Salsalate or Meclofenamate
Just throwing this out there in case anyone is looking for a link between Aspirin and Thyroxine They concluded that, “These data confirm that aspirin, salsalate, and meclofenamate affect total and free thyroid hormone measurements and identify three NSAIDs that did not change thyroid tests. TSH remained

ROUND 2 THE BIG FIGHT.
The Cytokine Kid looks relaxed on the stool in the blue corner as the medics check him over for infections and take bloods. As they connect the intravenous drip he seems to be enjoying banter with the research nurse referee and Dr M. the Rheumatology consultant. They seem to be talking about the role

Feeling left high and dry to suffer alone...
So sorry, I only seem to post when I am feeling down! Am having the worst flare I have ever experienced, 5 days so far and no sign of a reprieve. My lower back pain is immense, as is my neck pain and tingling hands and feet. Bad arthritis is causing havoc in my hands and elbows, and Raynauds is bad

Excessive Sweats and Leg Pain
Husband came out of hospital being told had patellar tendonitis and no information re the hot flushes/sweats. Asked our GP to run hormone test and it shows very low testosterone. He said his counts all over the place so I was upset and rang his consultant who says the leg pain is being caused probably

My partner suffers from Ovarian Fibroma ( possible cause of her chronic pelvic pain) and hypothyroidism....
...the Gynaecological surgeon we saw won't perform a laparoscopy until my partner (who has unstable Hypothyroidism) gets her levels in check. Meanwhile she can't get her levels in check because we can't find a decent Endocrinologist who could do that. We have seen quite a few endocrinologists already

How far Glucosamine is helpful for human beings treating Firbromyalgia/Arthritis?
What is the function of Glucosamine? Glucosamine is a compound came upon clearly within the body, produced from glucose and the amino acid glutamine. Glucosamine is having to produce glycosaminoglycan a particle that is used for formation and repair of cartilage and different frame tissues. As we age

Is anyone on any of these: azathioprine, Arcoxia (etorocoxib), lidocaine plasters?
I have atypical PMR (i.e. with normal blood results) and also degenerative changes in my spine. I saw my rheumatologist yesterday. Because I have diabetes and hypertension, and because steroids worsen my depression, she feels it is best to give a steroid-sparing medication and slowly reduce my prednisolone

Cellulitis or not!!!!
Woke up this morning and my arm was painful and swollen. Put my sleeve on and tried to carry on as normal. By lunch time it was really painful so took sleeve off and realised it was now very red!!! I rang the breast care nurse and she sent me straight to my Doc who has prescribed Antibiotics. She said

PMR and Lyme disease?
Does anyone have any information on the connection between PMR and Lyme disease? It seems to be a suspected cause especially in America, I live in Africa and have had the local version, Tick Bite Fever. My Rheumy ruled out Tick Bite Fever as a cause but then said he didn't know what caused PMR!
