What are the options for joint and muscle pain?
When I saw Dr K on Thursday, we spoke briefly about amitriptyline (which I tried years ago and gave me nightmares) and plaquenil. We didn't come to any conclusions, as he is going to ask my GP to refer me to him at St Thomas's for further investigation. I've got some sort of low grade connective tissue

Has anyone had success with Botox treatment for chronic headaches after viral meningitis?
My daughter (age 15) had viral meningitis in September and has suffered from chronic headaches ever since. We are with pediatric headache neurologist and Botox was just approved by our insurance company. We have tried 5 different medications and none have provided relief.

Problem with nails
My nails are so awful, the usual hypo ridges some even look like they might crack. I also have noticed a few dents in the middle of a couple of my nails. The bed of my nail where the cuticles grow are looking red and raised on some of them and the skin splits. Another strange thing is some of the

Claim: Tetanus Vaccine Causes a New Disease Known as Antiphospholipid Syndrome
I came across this article today. http://healthimpactnews.com/2013/tetanus-vaccine-causes-a-new-disease-known-as-antiphospholipid-syndrome/ First I've heard of such a claim. Make of it what you will. The first thing that springs to my mind is why are sufferers predominantly women , isn't the incidence

Successful hospital followup
Saw a brilliant doctor at the hospital today. She took the time to listen and answer my many questions (palindromic or ra and can I take nsaids along with mtx when my pain increases etc). She then did thorough examination before discussing options. My blood results r showing raised esr and crp again

How my first appointment went.....
Well that's it. I haven't written this straight after my appointment as I needed to get my head around it and what it all means. My appointment was last week, the 23rd. I went in with a relatively open mind. Not expecting a lot. I had written every thing down as so many people have said too. When

Fungal nail treatment
I have what I think is a fungal nail infection in one of my fingernails. I am reluctant to take yet more oral medication due to the state of my liver. Anyone found anything else that gets rid of it?

Other treatments for Behcet's
I don't see many people here mention that they've been on Trental (pentoxifylline) for Behcet's ulcerations, arthritis, and fatigue. It's inexpensive and has mild anti-TNFa properties like the biologics (Enbrel, Remicade, Humira, etc.), with fewer side effects and little risk. Low-dose nicotine patches

Travel Vaccinations - Autoimmune HypoT - Can I have them?
I'm gutted after reading that article about the flu jab and the possible debilitating autoimmune response reaction by some autoimmune hypoT sufferers. My kids are just off my hands and my husband and I want to see the world but now I'm thinking it might not be wise for me to have all the jabs - and

What is the possibility that my sister will recover from meningitis?
My 10 years old sister is now confined at the hospital and she is unresponsive since December 26,2012. The doctors diagnosed that she is suffering of TB meningitis. She was operated(VP shunt) last Dec.27 because she has a condition in which fluid accumulates in the brain (hydrocephalus). I don't know
