Numbness on 'stache area?
My God have I had a week. It all started when I met up with a friend who happened to have a cold sore below his lips. When I saw it I was automatically triggered because I remembered when I had a cold sore like that. For example, two years ago I had a cold sore that managed to turn itself into an insane

Starting methotrexate
So I had my 6 month check up with the rheumy today. She's totally lost knowing what to do with me - I've had to come off plaquenil again as it's just making me so sick and such bad stomach acid I just can't cope with it. All of the other treatments we've tried I seem to react to - which we now know is

NSAIDS, other pain killers as cause of diverticular disease?
Hello folks On top of everything else I have been diagnosed with diverticula disease. This is odd, since I am predominantly vegetarian, and eat mostly beans, lentils, peas and veg. I make my own whole meal bread. Plenty of roughage! I am wondering if this disease could have been caused by the long term

New to community & this is my meningitis story
In October of 2014 I became ill with what I thought was the flu. My temp was 102.9 for about 24 hrs before going to an urgent care facility. I live in the US. While at the facility, I was taken to a room & was asked to submit a UA. Not long after a nurse came in & stated I had signs of a kidney infection

Cannabis Basics - Introduction
Let’s talk Cannabis. This is to facilitate education to everyone. I don’t want it to be a political topic, or a discussion of personal beliefs. If we go there, the content will become muddled and no one will benefit. Its meant to be educational for anyone that’s curious about it. Also, any other input

Worried about opiates
Hi, I have several ongoing, undiagnosed problems currently, the main one of which is abdominal pain for which I am on tramadol, buscapan and paracetamol. The group of pain killers that includes gabapentin won't work for this type of pain according to the docs and I am already on it for my back pain

Feeling Great!!!
Hi all. I cannot believe that I am feeling so good. I started out doing the "Paddison Program", about a month ago, which has totally stopped my pain and flares, and I'm now doing "The Autoimmune Protocol (AIP)", by Mickey Trescott and Angie Alt. The changes I've made are all about the food I am putting

Rollercoaster of a Month
Thank you to everyone who commented on my kidney & NSAIDs post. Kidneys were given the ok, slightly inflamed but no damage. The aim was still to reduce NSAIDs but without an alternative, I was struggling and felt I wasn't getting the support. In the end I decided to change rheumatologist and so GP referred

Shingles Vaccination
Hi all could someone please tell me if you can have the shingles vaccination if you're on methotrexate as it's a live vaccine. My GP surgery keeps leaving messages to tell me I'm entitled to it. I know its awful but I just don't trust them to get it right.

Measles Killer: More Common than Believed
[i]A rare and universally fatal complication of measles is more common than clinicians had thought, a researcher said here. The disease is subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE) and in the pre-vaccine era investigators thought it occurred about one in 100,000 measles cases, according to James Cherry

Pain from Shingles in eye.
My Mom (84) has recently had Shingles in her eye and head. It's been 4 weeks now and the pain in her eye is horrendous she screams in pain - it happens about 4/5 times a day. She describes it as burning and sharp pains which has started lasting longer an longer. She keeps telling me she cannot take it
