I am very interested to hear from people (or heard of someone) who have made a full recovery from Viral meningitis, or even Varicella zoster virus?

Unfortunately those people that have experienced a full recovery from vm are unlikely to be on this site. Or if they initially joined this site, are unlikely to continue to be active on here once there after effects have resolved. That can for some take months. The people on here are mostly those who's illness was more severe and have not experienced full recovery. But I think that is not the case for the majority of people having VM. It is more serious than flu and does take weeks and months and for a few even longer to recover.

Perhaps you could offer a little more explanation about why you have posted your question? Have you had VM or has someone you are close to or know. If you ring the meningitis now helpline 0808 80 10 338 they will be able to send you some information and answer your questions. Or take a look on their website MeningitisNow.org.uk where you can download information.

Hi Strawberry cream,

Thankyou for your time and writing a relpy.

My wife has said the same to me, that the ones who tend to make full recovery, move on with their lives again and don't leave an update regarding their full recovery.

I have written an earlier post regarding when I was hit by VM last July this year.

I had written the last post, with the question regarding full recovery, because I am loosing patience with the "after affects". It just taking so long!!

I have a fear that I will stay like this. Which is very scary. I'm trying to put on a brave face. But this is really horrible to cope with.

I have a hearing test this month, an neorologist test at the the end of January, followed by a follow on chat with the doctor again, at the hospital where I was treated.

But I know there is nothing they can do to help, apart from sympathy and moral support.

It's just a waiting, not over do it journey!

I am 1,5 years recovering from vzv meningitis-encefelitis. Doing much better but long way to go... not back at work. But can do more and more without getting terrible headaches etc. But always have to rest between activities. Few months ago I really was so fed up but now I see it slowly going up. Hope you keep getting better and better too! You are not the only one out there and don't forget to believe in yourself en listen to your body!
