I had meningitis when I was 10 years old [in quarantine for 6 months] what sort of medical conditions could I be the most susceptible to in later life? Or be wary of?

Long term effects from Meningitis as a child?
I think it would have been the medication that would have upset the gut flora/microbiome which can cause problems for life.
Did you ever get your thyroid CORRECTLY checked 😊😊
I did a little research- An estimated 25% of people who survive meningitis or septicemia will have less obvious after effects, such as difficulties with co-ordination, concentration and memory. These are usually temporary.
So physically, nothing bad will happen, though a slight chance of temporary memory/concentration/co-ordination problems. Nothing to worry about.
Mentally, having spent 6 months in quarantine may have affected your school learning so tutoring may be needed, but I guess the whole experience will have made you stronger as a person!
So overall I don't think you are medically more at risk, however I am definitively not a doctor and I have only done a little bit of research. It's sad to hear about you spending 6 moths i quarantine, no one should have to go through that! Hope you are well now and that this helped a little xx
Hi Adlon - was it bacterial or viral meningitis?
It was a long time ago, I was in a wooden and glass 'room' with another patient in the same situation next door. I presume it was viral, such as the fuss the whole hospital took to isolate me. Thanks for your concern, Merry Christmas!
